How to Apply
Apply In-Person
- Applicants should contact the Mauritius diplomatic mission in the country that he/she is currently residing, first and schedule an appointment if required.
- Visit the embassy office with your identification document and express your interest the service desk.
- Collect the request form, or download it via the embassy website portal or use the link below to download Link (Application form)
- Fill out the application form, print out the completed form (pre-filled) and submit the completed form, along with the supporting document listed below.
- Your application will be forwarded to the Ministry of Social Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade for financial assistance in Mauritius to be verified and processed.
- You will be notified of the outcome via mail or phone and given further instructions.
Apply Online
- Login the Mauritius e-service portal website, if you already have an account by clicking on "Access MYGOV" tab,Link, if you do not have an account, click on "Create an account" option.
- Fill out the registration form, as follows.
- Accept the terms and conditions
- Select your registration status (citizen or foreigner)
- Enter your personal information then click on “Next” tab.
- Enter your email address and phone number then click on “send OTP” tab.
- A One Time Password (OTP) will be sent to the email address and phone number, for activating your account.(Note the OTP is valid for 30 minutes)
- Insert the OTP number then click on “next”. Then login with the credentials (username/password) you had registered with.
- Upon login, click on "Digital Government" option then select “E-services “from the drop box, you will then be redirected to the next page, click on “click here to apply for an e-service” tab located on the right side of your screen.
- You will then be redirected to the next page, search for “Application for assistance to Mauritians in distress abroad” {located on the 2nd page} then click on it.
- The application form, will then be displayed on your screen, fill it accurately and upload the required documents then click on “submit” tab.
- Your application request will be forwarded to the Ministry of Social Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade for financial assistance in Mauritius to be verified and processed.
- You will be notified of the outcome via mail or phone and given further instructions.

Need for the DocumentEdit
The Embassy liaises with the Ministry of Social Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade for financial assistance to cover the air tickets for the Mauritian in distress to return to Mauritius. Loans are granted to those in distress subject to conditions are as follows:
- Shortage of money to return to Mauritius
- Arrest for illegal stay
- Victims of theft: loss of passports and purses
- Repatriation of mortal remains

Repatriation of mortal remains
- Assistance is also extended to the relatives of Mauritian nationals who died in a foreign country. Families expressing the wish to have the remains of their dear ones repatriated for funeral rites and burial in Mauritius should obtain clearance from the Ministry of Health and Quality of life prior to the landing of the mortal remains.
- Missions will gather all the necessary documents, the most important being the death certificate whereby the cause of death is clearly specified.
- Upon receipt of these papers, the Ministry of Health and Quality of life will issue a no objection to the landing of the remains of the deceased person.
- A grant of €1000 is granted in connection with the repatriation of the remains by the National Solidarity Fund for expenses incurred thereto.
