Apply Online

  1. To request a duplicate work permit, you should make your application to the Work Permit Unit - Employment Division through the e-Work Permit Portal via this E-work permit.
  2. On the website, under “Get Started” enter your username and password if you already have an account to sign in or click on the “Register” button to create your account.
  3. You will be directed to the “Terms and Conditions for Applicants” page, here, read the general terms and conditions as you scroll down the page.
  4. Then agree to the terms and conditions by clicking on the “I Agree” box and click on the “Click here to go the Applicant Registration Form” button to go to the next page.
  5. On the next page, open the drop-box under “Type of applicant” to select your type of application e.g., Association, Embassy, Individual, etc., and then click on the “Proceed” button to go to the first step of the application page.
  6. Complete the “Applicant details” and click on the “Save and Proceed” button to go the step two page of the application form.
  7. Now complete the details of the authorized users of the e-work permit portal and click on the “Save and Proceed” button to go to the step three page of the application form.
  8. On step three page of the online application form, upload all the required supporting documents and then click on the “Save and Proceed” button to go to the step four of the application form.
  9. On step four, read and agree to the declaration and then click on the “Submit” button.
  10. You will then receive a registration email to guide you on the next step after the registration.
  11. Then you or one of the directors or the designated Authorised Users of the e-Work Permit Portal as provided in the applicant registration form should, within two weeks of the notification issued by the System, call in person to the Employment Division of the Ministry, Level 11, Victoria House, Port Louis, within working hours to sign the Applicant Registration Form. Note that the original of the scanned documents should be produced for verification and the person calling at the Ministry should bring along their National Identity Card.
  12. Once the documents have been verified, the application will be approved for full access to the online system.
  13. Once you are authorized to use your account, login using your registered credentials.
  14. On your account, go to the menu of “Work Permit” and select “Duplicate” and then enter the Expatriate ID and click on the “Search” button.
  15. On the Expatriate list, click on the “Duplicate” hyperlink under the Acton column of the grid to go to the employer details.
  16. Verify the employer details in step one and then proceed to verify the employer details in step two,
  17. Then select the justifications of the application for the duplicate work permit and then click on the “Submit” button.
  18. Pay the duplicate work permit fee using the online system and after the payment process, the ministry will process the application.
  19. Once the application is approved, you will be notified through your email address and the work permit will be delivered to you.

  • Passport-sized photographs. The photographs should be between 35mm and 40mm in width and between 45mm and 50 mm in height and taken against a light background.
  • Any other document requested by the labor office.

EligibilityEdit

Employers of foreign workers/employees who have lost/ damaged their work permit.

FeesEdit

The application fee is Rs 700.

Payment of fees may be paid through:

  • Online on the e-Work Permit Portal through the e-payment Gateway of the Treasury. Visa and Master card credit cards from all banks (which have been enabled for online transactions) and SBM Visa Pre-paid cards may be used for online payment.
  • By cash/office cheque at the Cash Office of the Ministry, Level 10, Sterling House, Port Louis.
  • Through the Point of Sales system at the Cash Office of the Ministry, Level 10, Sterling House, Port Louis. A fee at prevailing bank rates is applicable at the time of payment.

  • state Work permit validity (From/To date).
  • Profession (job title) of the employee.
  • State reason for justification (lost/stolen/damage/others).
  • Date of issue of the permit.
  • Declaration by the applicant.
