Procedure

Apply In-person

1. To apply for a driver’s license in Manitoba the applicant will need to first get a Class 5 Learner’s license.
   • Study for the test.
   • The applicant can book an online appointment here booking online
   • The applicant will have to pay a fee of 10$.
   • If the applicant fails this test, they will have to wait for 7 days before writing the test again.
2. After completing the written test, the applicant is eligible for a road test.
3. Enrol at the nearest driving school that has a valid permit.

5. The applicant will have to pay a fee.
6. The agent will check to see if you have good vision.
7. Once the applicant passes these tests, a class 5 license will be issued.
8. The applicant will receive a temporary license which they can use until the license card arrives by mail.
9. Once the applicant receives the license card, they will have to destroy the temporary license.
10. If the applicant fails this test, they will have to wait for 14 days before they can retake it.
11. After a period of 15 months and without any suspensions, the applicant can apply for a full license.
    • Schedule a test with the nearest autopac centre or ask the driving school for further guidance.
    • The agent will inform you of the documents that are needed.
    • The applicant will have to pass a vision test.
    • The applicant will have to give a driver’s test.
    • Once the applicant passes these tests, they can buy the license card.
    • The applicant will be given a temporary license card until the card arrives through mail.

Eligibility

For a class 5 learners license (Written test), the applicant must be:

• Have parental consent if the applicant is under 18 years of age.

• The license is valid for up to 5 years.
