Apply In-PersonEdit
- To apply for replacement of vehicle permit in Manipur the applicant has to approach the RTO office or permit issuing state/regional transport authorities of the area.
- Information related to the RTO offices and permit issuing state/regional transport authorities can be obtained from the Office Locations and Contacts” Section of this page.
- Applicant will have to submit application to RTO in charge stating the reason for replacement of the permit.
- Application for Replacement is done when the permit issued to one vehicle needs to be replaced by another vehicle of the same owner.
- Application should be submitted to appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
- Application form (if required) can be obtained from RTO office.
- Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
- Applicant first needs to surrender the issued permit to the RTO, there is no fees for surrendering the permit, but a penalty is imposed if permit is not valid
- Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
- Once the fees is deposited a Replacement Order &’ Time to place‘ ( A time period during which the vehicle has to be replaced) is issued
- The new vehicle number along with proof has to be provided to the RTA/STA.
- If the replacement is done after the ‘time to place’ is over, a penalty is imposed.

- If the owner has permit for one vehicle wishes to replace it to another vehicle is eligible for replacement.

ValidityEdit
- A permit other than a temporary permit shall remain effective for a period of 5 (five) years. Once you get it terminated, it will be effective till you reapply for fresh permit and get it granted.

Q. What is a permit?
- Ans: Any vehicle which is to be used for carrying goods or passengers for Commercial purpose essentially requires the permission (permit) of State Govt. under the provisions of M.V. Act, 1988 and rules framed there under. Permits are issued by State Transport authorities to control and to regulate operation of commercial vehicles.
