Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. You should visit the Regional Transport Directorate at the driving license section, or the transport subdivision at the Cercle level near you at least one month before the expiring of the current licence and;

   • Collect necessary forms and accurately fill them.
   • Attach all the required documents (listed below); and
   • Submit the documents to be verified and recorded.

2. The file is submitted to the license section where it is registered and then sent to the cash office (Aisse) where you will be required to pay the application fees, upon which you will be issued with an acknowledgement receipt.
3. The file is then returned to the license section and then sent to the head of the visa division, to be verified and affixation of the visa.
4. The file is then returned to the license section and then sent to the computer room for data input. It is then validated by the agent in charge of validation and returns to the computer room for the drawing of the permit document.
5. The file is then sent to the national management after having been approved by the head of division and signed by the Regional Director.
6. At the national office, the file is registered and its conformity with the parent file is checked.
7. If it is compliant, the director or his deputy signs the document, which is returned to the national transport directorate within a month. The file remains in the archives of the national leadership. If the file is not compliant, it is rejected.
8. The applicant or representative should then re-visit the office where you had file the application, the driving license section and present the your identity card and

Required Documents

• The old license document whether expired, illegible or torn.
• An application stamped at 200 FCFA.
• A certificate of residence issued by the police, gendarmerie or town hall.
• Four passport photos (color preferred).
• A stamp of 3750 FCFA.
• For categories C, D and E, medical visit form.

Eligibility

Registered drivers who needs to renew their drivers licence.

Application fee

• Fees from the National Direction 3,000 FCFA
• ANASER fees 2,000 FCFA
• Medical examination fees 6,000 FCFA
  

Validity

The license renewal does not concern light-duty vehicles, but categories C, D and E, that is to say common transport vehicles, heavy-duty vehicles. It takes place every five years up to an age limit of 18 to 45 for the license holder. Beyond 4 years, renewal occurs every three years, and beyond 55, every two years.

NB: for A and B permits, renewal is carried out only if necessary.

Need for the Document

• The driving license is an official government document that allow/authorizes a person to drive a motor vehicle of any class on a road in Mali
• No person is allowed to drive a motor vehicle in Mali, unless he/she is a holder of a valid driving license or a provisional license endorsed in respect of that class of vehicle.
• Any person driving a motor vehicle on a road is required by law carry his/her driving license or provisional license all times, and produce it when requested for by a police officer for examination.
