Mali - Apply for a Electricity Connection

Applicant should visit the Energie du Mali {EDM} branch agency near you and express your interest at the customer service desk.
- Collect necessary forms and accurately fill them;
- Attach all the required documents (see required document below); and
- Submit the documents to be verified and registered by the EDM agent.
You will then be required to pay the deposit connection fee at the cash counter upon which you will be issued with an acknowledgment slip and an appointment booking for a site survey in 15 days.
The application file is then transmitted to the technical service for study, by the technical sales agents and the quantity surveyors.
The EDM will then sent surveyor team to inspect the site {residence} to verify the compliance of standards. The authorized officer will also estimate the amount you will be required to pay for the connection and draw a receipt.
The file along with the payment receipt are then returned to the reception desk, to be issued to applicant, who then decide if and when to make the connection fee.
If you agree to make payment, the reception agent fills in and sign the contract form and send it to the customer service manager for signature.
The file is recorded on the computer, then sent to the cash register where you will be advised to make payment against the connection receipt.
Upon payment you will be issued with a payment receipt as well as the original copy of the contract.
A copy of the file is then sent to the accounting department for the journaling of the receipts. A second copy is sent to technical service and a third is filed with customer service.
The technical service team will then visit the residence for external works, meter installation and electricity flow within 15 days.
Upon completing the installation a meter installation form will be issued to you by the technical service team to be completed, sign and then place in your file. The file is then sent to reception for updating and invoicing.

Residential supply

National Identity Card of the applicant or Passport ID
A copy of the applicant's title deed
- Or a copy of a Lease agreement, if applicant is resident on State Land;
- Or a copy of a transcription, if land has been transcribed to the applicant;
- Or a letter of authorization from the landlord, if customer is a tenant, as well as a copy of landlord's title deed
Building & Land Use Permit for the said premises, wherever applicable
A list of declared electrical appliances to be connected in Watts (W) or Kilowatts (kW)
Please Note: If you are occupying the premises as a tenant, the authorisation of your landlord is required together with a copy of the latter’s National Identity Card and Title Deed.

Non-residential supply (Commercial /Industrial Purposes).

A duly signed letter from the company requesting the new supply, specifying the total connected load;
A list of the declared electrical equipment to be connected in watts or kilowatts;
A copy of the company’s Business Registration Card together with a copy of its Certificate of Incorporation;
A copy of the Title Deed in case of ownership of the premises;
A Letter of Authorization from the landlord or a copy of the Lease Agreement if the customer is a tenant, as well as copy of the relevant Title Deed;
A Building and Land Use Permit, wherever applicable;
In case of a registered company, a list of shareholders( those holding more than 10 % of shares); and
National Identity Card of the Director or Passport ID.

Please note: The EDM reserves the right to request for additional document/s as applicable.

EligibilityEdit

Service is open to all {citizens/foreigners/business/company/industries}, but the applicant must meet the following conditions

Ground
Place a fuse box or circuit breaker
Provide for connection after meter,
Finish the exterior ceiling and plaster the exterior wall at the counter location
Make a power assessment in agency (calculation of the number of devices that we plan to use).

FeesEdit

You will be given receipt indicating the connection fee (quotation fee) and the security deposit fee required by the EDM.

ValidityEdit

Validity of the connection is forever, unless one fail’s to pay the electricity bill, which lead to disconnection of the electricity service.
