Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. Gather and prepare all the required documents for this application
2. Visit the Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC) One Stop Service Centre (OSSC) office in your region to obtain the application form
3. Fill the application form and attach all the required documents to it in a single file
4. Go to the OSSC office department of immigration to submit your complete application
5. The assisting officer will go through your application to verify if it meets all the requirements
6. Once the application has been verified, pay an upfront fee of $2100 at the FDH Bank Counter located in any of the Immigration offices and obtain the payment receipt.
7. Upon payment the BPR will be endorsed in your passport while other processes continue of producing the actual permit.
8. Your application will undergo further security checks and you will be requested to visit the OSSC office for your finger prints to be taken and to finalize the security process
9. At the completion of the processes, the documents will be sent to the Ministry of home Affairs and Internal Security for ministerial approval
10. By meeting all the application conditions, the BRP Permit Certificate will be produced and you will be required to collect it at the MITC office

Apply Online

1. Visit the Malawi e-permit portal through this link: Apply Online
2. Create an account by clicking on the “Login” hyperlink on the information bar and select “create an account” proceed to setting up your account and login.
3. Once you have logged in, click on “New” at the information bar to commence your application Open the Drop box and scroll down to choose “Business Residence Permit BPR” and a new drop box will appear. In it, select the permit subcategory you wish to apply for .i.e. Trade, Manufacturing etc.
4. Scroll to the bottom of the page as you read about the permit and cross check if you have the necessary documents
5. At the bottom of the page, click on “Apply Now” to start your application
6. Fill all the required information in all the pages and submit your application for processing and issuing of the BRP Permit

Required Documents

• Fully completed application forms in duplicate
• Two passport size photos
• Business Registration Certificate or Certificate of Incorporation or Memorandum and *Articles of Association
• Police clearance report from country of origin
• Business plan or profile
• Bank statement with not less than US$50,000.

a. The Bank Statement must be from a Malawian Bank

b. The US$50,000 needs to have been transferred into this account from outside the country.

c. The Bank account should be a Business Account registered in the name of the business entity

d. It is recommended that the Bank Account should be a Foreign Currency Denominated Account (optional)

• Copy of passport

Note that all documents should be in duplicate and all certificates be certified by Commissioner of Oath.
