Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. Prepare all the required documents for your application and visit the immigration department office in your region to obtain the application form
2. Fill the application form accordingly and attach all the required documents to it
3. Submit your complete application at the immigration office for verification by an immigration officer at the service desk
4. The official will process your application and submit it to the back office for the final decision and approval by the immigration committee
5. Once the application has been approved, you will be formally notified and then you will make your way to the FDH Bank Counter located any of the Immigration offices in Malawi to pay the prescribed application fee and obtain the payment receipt
6. Submit the bank slip to the immigration department office and obtain your complete Temporary Residence Permit

Apply Online

1. Visit the Malawi e-permit portal through this link: Apply online
2. Create an account by clicking on the “Login” hyperlink on the information bar and select “create an account” proceed to setting up your account and login.
3. Once you have logged in, click on “New” at the information bar to commence your application Open the Drop box and scroll down to choose “Temporary Residence Permit TRP”
4. Scroll to the bottom of the page as you read about the permit and cross check if you have the necessary documents
5. At the bottom of the page, click on “Apply Now” to start your application
6. Fill all the required information in all the pages and submit your application for processing and issuing of the BRP Permit

• Return or onward air ticket / Temporary Importation permit (Optional)

Eligibility

• To a visitor with a valid Visitor’s or Business Visit Permit who has resided in Malawi for the maximum of 90 days but has legitimate and justifiable reasons for continued residence.
• A foreign national who would like to enter Malawi for short term consultancy or other work related activity.

Fees

• $ 100 payed after application approval by visiting FDH Bank Counter located any of the Immigration offices in Malawi

Validity

• Six months and it can be renewed for another six months
