Apply In-Person

  1. Gather and prepare all the required documents for your application
  2. Visit the Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC) One Stop Service Centre (OSSC) office or the immigration department office in your region to obtain the application form
  3. Fill the application form and attach all the required documents to it in a single file
  4. Go to the OSSC office department of immigration to submit your complete application
  5. The assisting officer will go through your application to verify if it meets all the requirements
  6. Once the application has been verified, pay an upfront processing fee of $100 at the FDH Bank Counter located in any of the Immigration offices and obtain the payment receipt.
  7. Upon payment the TEP will be forwarded to the immigration committee for committee consideration
  8. At the completion of the committee processes, the documents will be sent to the Ministry of home Affairs and Internal Security for ministerial approval
  9. Once a decision is made you will be formally notified if your application has been approved or rejected. If approved one will be required to pay the appropriate fees within 30 days from date of notification.
  10. Upon payment of the required fee you will obtain the complete TEP permit.

  1. Visit the Malawi e-permit portal through this link: Apply online
  2. Create an account by clicking on the “Login” hyperlink on the information bar and select “create an account” proceed to setting up your account and login.
  3. Once you have logged in, click on “New” at the information bar to commence your application.
  4. Open the Drop-box and scroll down to choose “Temporary Employment Permit (TEP)” and Scroll to the bottom of the page as you read about the permit and cross check if you have the necessary documents
  5. At the bottom of the page, click on “Apply Now” to start your application
  6. Fill all the required information in all the pages and submit your application for processing and issuing of the BRP Permit

  • Fully completed application forms in duplicate
  • Covering letter from the employer
  • Certified copies of educational certificates
  • Certified copies of professional certificates
  • Evidence that the post was advertised in the local press and CVs of the local Malawians who took part in the interview for Time positions
  • A letter of no objection from the previous employer in case the applicant changes jobs within Malawi
  • 2 passport size photographs of the applicant
  • Proof of arrangement of understudy
  • Thumb print
  • Registration certificates and certificate of incorporation
  • Original police clearance letter from country of origin.
  • Copy of Passport showing photograph & personal details 
  • Copy of Visitor / Business Permit 



Note:

  • All supporting documents should be submitted in duplicate.
  • All documents should be in duplicate and all certificates be certified by Commissioner of Oath.

InstructionsEdit

  • The work permit is issued to persons before they enter Malawi for the purpose of taking up specified employment in Malawi.
  • The organization has the responsibility to apply for the permit on behalf of the applicant.
  • It is a requirement for work permit applications to be logged with the department of immigration while the applicant is outside Malawi to take up employment once the application has been approved.
  • All applicants for new work permit are required by law to wait outside Malawi until the application has been approved
  • It is a criminal offence under the Immigration Act to work or be employed in Malawi without a Temporary Employment Permit/ work permit.
