Apply In-Person
- Prepare all the required documents for your application and visit the immigration department office in your region to obtain the application form
- Fill the application form accordingly and attach all the required documents to it
- Submit your complete application at the immigration office for verification by an immigration officer at the service desk
- The official will process your application and submit it to the back office for the final decision of approval by the chief immigration office
- Once the application has been approved, you will be formally notified and then you will make your way to the FDH Bank Counter located any of the Immigration offices in Malawi to pay the prescribed application fee and obtain the payment receipt
- Submit the bank slip to the immigration department office and obtain your complete study permit.

- Visit the Malawi e-permit portal through this link: Apply online
- Create an account by clicking on the “Login” hyperlink on the information bar and select “create an account” proceed to setting up your account and login.
- Once you have logged in, click on “New” at the information bar to commence your application Open the Drop box and scroll down to choose “Study Permit (ST)” and another drop-box will appear. In it, chose the subcategory of the kind of study permit you wish to apply for i.e. research or study permit
- Scroll to the bottom of the page as you read about the permit and cross check if you have the necessary documents
- At the bottom of the page, click on “Apply Now” to start your application
- Fill all the required information in all the pages and submit your application for processing and issuing of the ST Permit

- Renewals of the ST should be made 3 months before the prior to the expiry date
- Employment is not allowed with this kind of permit
