Malawi - Apply for Installation Permit under Electricity Act-Renewable Energy

Apply by Mail:
- The applicant has to obtain an application form for importation Licence Form ERET 1 from Malawi Energy Regulation Authority (MERA).Contact Link
- Or download it from the link provided: Link.
- Fill the application form accordingly and pay the required application fees.
- Attach all the required documents to the application including the proof of payment receipt.
- Send the completed application to the Malawi Energy Regulation Authority through the address given in the “Office and Contacts” section below.
- The licensing officer will receive the application and MERA will acknowledge the receipt in writing within 30 days from the date they receive it.
- Then MERA will call the applicant for an interview invitation at their head office.
- Visit the MERA head office for the physical interview with the MERA Electrical #Installation Permit Committee which will assess your competence and qualifications.
- The Electrical Installation Permit Committee will then recommend to the main board to approve the issuance of the permit.
- The Mainboard will convene and make a decision on whether to issue the license.
- If they decide to issue the license, the applicant will be notified of the decision within 3 months.
- The permit will be processed and availed for collection at the licensing office.
