Malawi - Apply for Import License under Control of Goods

Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. The importer has to go to the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Tourism (MOIT) at the reception to enquire with the officer on duty and the applicant will be directed to the principal secretary office. Contact Link
2. Now, the importer has to make an application through the principal secretary.
3. The importer has to give a business certificate, proof of contract, or certificate of incorporation in order to apply.
4. The Principle secretary will verify the certificate and once the proof of business has been confirmed.
5. An application will be issued after the verification of the certificate.
6. Fill the application form correctly and attach all the documents mentioned in the “required documents” section below.
7.  Submit the completed application to the MOIT officials for processing, which will be processed within five working days.
8.  Then the MOIT will issue the License through the Principle Secretary’s office.
