- Fill the application form and attach all the supporting required documents to it.
- Submit the completed application to the MBS office for verification by the MBS officer.
- The documents will be checked and if the application is correct, then the MBS will produce a processing invoice bill and issue it you.
- Now, the importer has to go to any of the MBS office to settle the invoice and obtain the payment receipt; if the applicant is not able to settle the bill, then the commodities will be detained at the point of entry.
- Upon payment the MBS will conduct a conformity assessment of the consignment.
- If it fails, then the consignment will be detained at the border and if it passes the MBS samples the commodity for inspection and the applicant will be notified on the date of inspection.
- If inspection is to be done in land, MBS will issue clearance letter to you for the consignment to be transported to a warehouse where the inspection will be conducted and if not, then the MBS will issue a sampling form.
- The commodity sample will be inspected and if it meets the standard requirements i.e. passes the inspection, an import batch certificate will be prepared and issued to the applicant, otherwise, the consignment will be detained at the border, quarantined and re-exported to the country of origin or destroyed.
