Apply In Person

  1. To Apply for Health Certificate, the applicant has to approach the FDRE Ministry of Health link
  2. Contact the medical facility to schedule an appointment for your health examination. Inquire about the required documents, fees, and any specific instructions for the examination.
  3. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  4. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  5. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  6. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  7. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. The fee for a Health Certificate in Malawi is MK10,000 (USD67).
  10. Attend your scheduled health examination at the designated medical facility. The examination may include a physical check-up, medical history assessment, and possibly laboratory tests (such as blood tests, X-rays, etc.), depending on the purpose of the health certificate.
  11. After the examination is complete, the medical facility will provide you with a medical report detailing the results of your health assessment. If you meet the required health standards, they will also issue a health certificate.
  12. The health certificate will indicate the validity period and the purpose for which it is issued (e.g., travel, work, residency). Make sure you understand the limitations and requirements associated with the certificate.
  13. Submit the health certificate to the relevant authorities or organizations that require it. For example, if the certificate is needed for a visa application or travel, provide it to the appropriate embassy or consulate.
  14. This entire process can be completed within 5 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit

To be eligible to apply for a Health Certificate in Malawi, you must meet the following requirements:

  • The applicant must be a foreign national.
  • The applicant must have a valid passport and visa.
  • The applicant must have a negative COVID-19 test result, taken within 72 hours of your arrival in Malawi.
  • The applicant must have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate.
