Malawi - Apply for Entry of Good in Transit

Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. The importer has to seek a clearing agent in Malawi and submit form 12 and all the required documents to the agent.
2. The form 12 can be downloaded here: form link
3.  The agent will file the declaration in Customs Operating System (ASYCUDA), which will generate an invoice bill based on the filed declaration.
4.  The clearing agent will make an application for the transit of goods.
5. Then, the importer has to pay the security ad, processing fees based on the processing invoice generated by ASYCUDA.
6. If the transit has been granted, then the importer will be issued with a form T12. Then customs will allow the movement of the goods in transit under the customs clearing agent’s bond to the destination.
7.  The consignment will be sealed and it is deemed risky, and it will be transported under the customs escort to the destination.
8. Once everything checks out, transit will be conducted in the system (ASYCUDA) and allowed to process out to the importing country.
9.  Finally, submit it to customs evidence of export and the security will be refunded.
