Apply In-Person
- To apply for temporary vehicle registration in Maharashtra the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which your area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office : Regional Office Locations, Transport Commissioners Office Locations
- Application Form P.Co.P.A is required. Application forms can be obtained from the following link : English Application Forms, Marathi Application Forms
- The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying by reading through the eligibility criteria that has been listed out under the “Eligibility” section of this page.
- Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
- Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
- Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
Apply Online (Through Aaplesarkar Portal)
- To apply for Temporary Vehicle Registration, the applicant can make the application via Aaplesarkar Portal by using the following link link
- The applicant has to enter the user ID and password and click “Login Now. If the applicant doesn’t have an account the applicant can click on “Register Now” and register an account.
- Then the applicant has to click the “Transport” menu and select “Temporary Vehicle Registration” and read the instruction and click “Apply”.
- Next Select Registration – Form, fill out the online form, and submit.
- The applicant will get the application Id and the application screen will be closed.
- Open the application submitting application id and see the status of the application and the instruction given on the right side of the screen.
- If Status is uploaded document, then click upload the documents on right side instructions.
- By Clicking on the documents which want to upload browse will appear and upload all the required documents with the above same procedure.
- Then Click upload document at the bottom and see the status again which will show for payment.
- Click on pay the fees on the right-side button and choose the option of payment and make payment.
- Check the status it will show "under scrutiny" which means your application is on the desk for scrutiny check the status regularly, either it is "approved” or "rejected”
- If rejected check your mail and follow the instruction given in the mail and read the instructions.
- If you see the status "completed” and then book the slot and visit the office on the respective date.
Apply Through Mobile App
- To apply for Temporary Vehicle Registration, the applicant can make the application via RTS Maharashtra app link
- After installing the app, click on “Getting Started” and “select language” to start the application.
- Then the applicant has to click the “Transport” menu and select “Temporary Vehicle Registration” and read the instruction and click “Apply”.
- Next the applicant has to enter the user ID and password and click “Login Now. If the applicant doesn’t have an account the applicant can click on “Register Now” and register an account.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has to upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Review the application and click “Submit”
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be displayed. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
- All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- The applicant can check the status of the application by clicking on “Track” menu by entering the department and application ID.

- Copy of Sales certificate in Form 21 .
- Copy of Road worthiness certificate in Form 22 from the manufacturers.
- Copy of Valid Insurence Certificate.
- Pollution Under control Certificate.
- Copy of Proof of Address(Ration Card, Electricity Bill,.....).
- Copy of Design approval copy of STA in case Trailar or Semi Trailar.
- Copy of Original Sales Certificate from the concerned Authorities in Form 21 in the case of Ex_Army Vehicle.
- Copy of Customs Clearence Certificate in the case of Imported Vehicles.
- Unless exempted, the Fee payable to the Temporary Registration or for its extension shall be Rs.15/-(as per Rule 89 of APMV Rules).

ValidityEdit
Maximum period of validity of temporary registration is one month and it is not renewable.
Temporary Registration is valid for the period of 7 days initially and extended up to not exceeding 30 days incase of non-transport vehicles. This validity is extended for some more period with the permission of Registering Authority in case of transport vehicles.

InstructionsEdit
Under the provision of section 43 of the Central Motor Vehicle Act, temporary registration certificate can be given to a vehicle only in case when owner of a vehicle wants to take his vehicle to another state.
The temporary registration is also known as transit registration because the destination point is also mentioned in it where the vehicle has to reach. This registration is done at M.L.O. (HQ). The Transport Department can also delegate this registration power to the vehicle manufacturers or other concerned zonal offices.
A temporary certificate of registration or a temporary registration mark shall not be issued, except in respect of a vehicle which has not previously been registered.
Temporary registration shall be valid only for a month and it shall not be renewable.
The basic purpose of such registration is to safeguard the public and public property interests. i.e. if any damage is caused by such vehicle the same can be identified and traced out. Furthermore the taxes levied on the vehicle for plying on the road as road tax which is used for maintaining the fund for maintenance of the roads.

Need for the DocumentEdit
As per motor vehicle Act any vehicle who has to ply on the public roads need to be registered as per the law. Since the registration process is long therefore on buying the new vehicle the owner is provided with temporary registration number which is valid for one month from date of sale and during the said period the owner should get his vehicle permanently registered with RTO concerned.

Communication of the particulars of Vehicles Entering the State from outside.- When any motor vehicle which is not registered in the State, has been kept in the State for a period exceeding 14 days, the owner or other person in charge of the vehicle shall send intimation to the registering authority, and shall intimate:
(a) his name and permanent address, and his address for the time being;
(b) the registration mark of the vehicle;
(c) the mark and description of the vehicle; and
(d) in case of a transport vehicle the date on which the permit has been issued or countersigned within the State.
Provided that in case of a transport vehicle covered by a permit having validity in the state it shall be necessary to make a report under this sub-rule upon the occasion of first entry only.
