- To Renew Motor Vehicle Driver License from Other State in Maharashtra the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which your area belongs to. Following link can provide you information related to the list of RTO office: link
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. Or the applicant can download the application form from the following link link
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has to attach all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- The processing time for this procedure takes up to 10 - 15 days.

- Please select "Online Services" from the menu and click on "Driver License Related Services".
- You will be taken to a new screen where you have to select “Maharashtra” in the drop down menu against “Please select the State from where the service is to be taken”.
- Under “Apply Online”, please select “Services on Driving License” and please follow the instructions.

EligibilityEdit
- The driving License is renewed with effect from the date of its expiry when the application is made before its expiry or within thirty days grace period.
- The driving License is renewed with effect from the date of renewal when the application is made after the grace period.
- The driving License cannot be renewed after the period of five years after expiry of the License.
Note : If the License is from other state it is desirable that the applicant should bring No Objection Certificate (N.O.C.) / confirmation of driving License from Original Licensing Authority.

ValidityEdit
Licence to drive a Non-Transport Vehicle is valid for 20 years from the date of issue or until the holder attains the age of 50 years, whichever is earlier. After that, the Licence is renewed every 5 years. Transport Vehicle Licence is valid for a period of 3 years from the date of issue or renewal.

- An Expired Driving licence is valid for 30 days and can be renewed during this grace period without a penalty.
- A driving licence expired by more than 30 days can be renewed on payment of a penalty, provided the application is made within a period of five years from the date of expiry. The penalty is charged at Rs. 10/- per year or a part thereof.
- The Driving Licence can be renewed through any RTO in the country, irrespective of the place of its issue. If a driver changes his residence, the new address should be incorporated in the license.

Need for the DocumentEdit
A Driving Licence is an official document certifying that the holder is suitably qualified to drive a motor vehicle. Under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act,1988 in India, no person can drive a motor vehicle in any public place unless he holds a valid Driving Licence issued to him, authorising him to drive a vehicle of that particular category.
