Apply In-Person:
- To apply for domicile or residence certificate in Maharashtra, applicant has to approach the tehsildar office.
- Application should be submitted in a prescribed format along with the xerox copy of the Leaving Certificate, residential proof, Birth Certificate, Affidavit regarding the stay, etc.
- Make sure that you have all the proper documents mentioned in the “Required documents” section below.

- Visit the districts website Maharashtra districtand click on the concerned district to get that particular district website. Click on “About district” section and choose “who’s who” option to know about tehsildar contacts.
- Refer the Office location mentioned in the “Office location & contacts” section below.
- After the application form is processed, an enquiry officer will make a thorough verification regarding your proof which you have submitted along with the form.
- Now the authorities will issue the residence certificate to the applicant.

- Proof of residences such as ration card or driving license
- Age proof such as birth certificate, school certificate (10th admit card),etc.
- Two passport size photographs
- Proof of identity such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card, etc.
- Self-declaration form.
- Duly filled the application form.
- Photocopies of all documents duly attested by a government official.
- An affidavit from tehsil or court.

Domicile Certificate can be made only in one State/UT. Obtaining Domicile Certificate from more than one State/UT is an offence.
