Apply In-Person:

  1. To Get a Homestay Licence, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Tourism regional office link
    Note: if there is no regional office on the state the applicant has to approach nearby state offices.
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. Or the applicant can download the application form from the following link refer page no 9
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
  7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  9. All applications are processed within a reasonable time, having regard to the particular circumstances of each application, including the completeness of information and documents submitted to the authority by the applicant.
  10. The authority may seek additional information from an applicant if this is necessary to assess the application. The authority does not need to deal further with an application until the applicant has provided this additional information.
  11. The authority will conduct an onsite inspection regarding the application. Once everything is approved the authority will issues the license.
  12. This entire process can be completed within 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

  • In the case of Applicant being an owner: Copy of the Proof of Ownership (title deeds or Property tax receipt or electricity bill receipt).
  • In case of Promoter / Agent / Operator: Special power of authorisation given by the Owner of the premises to the promoter / Agent/ Operator for the purpose of these Guidelines and duly registered with the Registration Authorities concerned.
  • Location Plan showing access to the building from the major roads.
  • Location Plan showing access to the nearest Bus Stand, Railway Station and Airport along with distance clearly mentioned.
  • Soft copies of photographs of the building, its facade, the street in which it is located, interiors of the lobby, each of the rooms, dinning space and other facilities provided.
  • List of facilities to be provided including parking, Wi-Fi, cooking, laundry, phone, first aid kit, sanitation facilities, water facility etc.
  • Copy of the approved building plan of the premises as applicable.
  • Stability certificate issued by a Chartered Engineer.
  • Latitude and longitude of the establishment along with online map location.
  • GST registration copy.
  • PAN Card copy

EligibilityEdit

  • The classification for Incredible India Homestay Establishment will be given only in those cases where the owner /promoter of the establishment along with his / her family is physically residing in the same establishment and letting out minimum one room and maximum six rooms (12 beds).



FeesEdit

The application fees payable for classification/reclassification of Incredible India Bed & Breakfast Establishments and Homestay Establishments will be as follows:

  • Silver star Category - Rs. 3,000
  • Gold star category - Rs. 5,000.

  • Homestay is a form of accommodation in which the host i.e., the owner and his family provides lodging to the visitors in their own home. The room rented out for the visitors is either a spare room in the owner’s home or a quarter nearby.
