Maharashtra - Get Education Concession for Children of (Ex-Servicemen)

Apply In-Person
- Eligible students can claim educational concessions for govt recognized public/private institutes or central/state govt aided colleges, by applying at the AG’s (Adjutant General’s) Branch, Army HQ. (Refer “Office location and contacts” section)
- A reimbursement claim letter must be submitted by the students with the name, rank and service number of the father/mother of the child/children along with the name and class of the child.
- Procure the Contingent Bill from your institution as given in Pg. No.5 and 6 of the link: Education Concession Proforma
- Go through all the instructions given in the link before you fill the form.
- Fill all the details required in the Contingent Bill.
- Attach the revenue stamp, and the parent of the child has to sign over the stamp.
- Get the form countersigned by the Principal/Headmaster of the institution.
- Check if you have all the documents given in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- Attach the photocopy of all documents and receipts to the Contingent Bill.
- In case of serving personnel, the documents should be submitted through the unit.
- In case of retired eligible personnel, the documents should be sent by post to the AG’s Branch, Army HQ.
- After processing the application, the expenses will be credited to your bank account.

Required DocumentsEdit
- Reimbursement Claim
- Contingent bill countersigned by the Principal/Headmaster.
- Original receipts of uniform (where uniform is compulsory), clothing, books, tuition fee, bus/rail fare and hostel charges have been attached with the claim. In case of uniform allowance and hostel charges, certificate from the institution that uniform is compulsory and hostel charges being claimed are the actual charges levied by the Institute Hostel charges should not include messing and other ancillary charges.
- Photocopy of the entitlement card of the child (In case of officers, Entitlement Card should be obtained from AG/MP-5(b), Army HQ, New Delhi-11, and for PBOR the same should be obtained from the respective Record Offices. For further details, refer Pg. 3 in the Education Concession Proforma)
- A photocopy of the authority stating that the father of the child has been killed/missing/permanently disabled during conflict/CI Operation.
- Certificate to the effect that the reimbursement claimed against expenditure on tuition fee, hostel charges and bus/rail fare has actually been incurred by the child.
- Certificate from the Head of the Institute that the Institute is govt/govt aided or public/private institute recognized by Central/State Govt or is an autonomous organization entirely by the Central/State Govt, whichever is applicable.
- Details of bank account (Name of account holder, Account number, bank address and code) may be enclosed.

Eligibility to apply at AG’s Branch, Army HQ
- Children of Armed Forces personnel killed/missing or permanently disabled in 1962, 1965,1971 wars, Op PAWAN and OP MEGHDOOT
- Children of the Armed Forces personnel who were killed/declared missing or permanently disabled during all post MEGHDOOT operations in India and abroad/including Counter Insurgency Operations
- Eligible students studying in Govt/Govt aided schools/educational institutes, Military/Sainik Schools and other schools or colleges recognized by the Central or State Govts including the autonomous organizations financed entirely by Central/State Govts.

- This service does not require any fees.
ValidityEdit
- The education concession should be claimed every academic year during the course period.

- The applicant has to ensure that the reimbursement of cost of books and stationery, cost of uniform where it is compulsory and cost of clothing has been claimed as laid down in Govt of India letter.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- The government has framed many welfare schemes for dependants of ex-servicemen under the Kendriya Sainik Board. If the eligible children of Ex-Servicemen have not claimed for any other scholarship or educational grant, then he/she can apply for this scheme to get full reimbursement of education expenses.

- The fee could be claimed up to and inclusive of the first degree of the child.

- Previously, claims for reimbursement of concessions for eligible children studying in govt recognized public/private institutes were admitted by AG’s Branch, Army HQ whereas claims for children studying in Central / State Govt institutes were admitted by respective institutes out of the grants received from States. After the issue of revised policy letter, all claims for reimbursement are now granted by AG’s Branch, Army HQ.
