Maharashtra - Check EPF (Employee Provident Fund) Balance

Apply Online:
- To check PF balance online, the applicant must log on to the EPFO portal.
- Go to the tab ‘’Our Services’’ and choose the option that says “for employees” from the drop-down menu.
- Now, click on the option ‘’Member passbook’’ under the option “Services.”
- A login page will appear. Enter your UAN number and password here after it has been activated.
- Once logged in, the applicant can access their EPF account to view balance.
Apply Through SMS:
- To check PF balance through SMS, the applicant must send an SMS to mobile number 7738299899.
- The message is to be sent in the following format: ‘EPFOHO UAN ENG‘.
- Note: The UAN needs to be integrated with KYC details on the EPFO portal for this method of applying to work.
- The applicant will have to set their preferred language of communication in the SMS.
- To do so, use the first three characters of the preferred language. For example, to receive updates in English, use the first three characters of the word English, i.e. EPFOHO UAN ENG.
- To receive the message updates in Marathi, type-in EPFOHO UAN MAR.
- This facility is available in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Bengali.
- Once sent, the applicant will receive a reply SMS containing the PF balance details.
Apply Through Missed Call:
- The applicant can inquire about their EPF balance by giving a missed call to the authorised phone from their registered mobile number.
- This service is only available upon the integration of the UAN with the KYC details on the EPFO portal.
- The applicant needs to take the help of their employer to do so.
- Once the UAN is integrated with your KYC details, give a missed call to 011-22901406 from the registered mobile number.
- After placing a missed call, the applicant will receive an SMS with the required PF details.
Apply Through Mobile Apps:
Through M-Sewa app of EPFO:
- The applicant can check their PF balance by downloading the “m-Sewa app of EPFO” from here: Link
- Once the app is downloaded, click on “Member” and then go to “Balance/Passbook” option.
- Enter the UAN and registered mobile number.
- The system will verify the mobile number against the UAN.
- If all the details are verified, the applicant can view their updated EPF balance details.
- In case of a mismatch, the app will display an error.
Through Umang app:
- The applicant can also check their PF balance by downloading the “Umang” app from the Google Play Store for android mobile users OR Apple Store for iPhone users.
- Upon installation, go to the search menu and look for EPFO or, find the EPFO option from the app’s homepage under the head “Employee Centric Services”.
- In the following page click on “View Passbook” option.
- Now enter the UAN and one-time password (OTP) sent to the registered mobile number to access PF account details.

ValidityEdit
As per the existing provisions under the Indian Provident Fund (PF) law, an EPF account becomes ‘inoperative account’ and does not earn further interest, once an employee retires from service after attaining the age of 55 years, migrates abroad permanently or dies and does not apply for withdrawal of his accumulated balance within 36 months.
