Maharashtra - Cancel or Remove (Delete) Ownership of Firearm (Gun) License

ProcedureEdit

Apply In-person:

  1. Application for cancellation or removal of ownership of Firearm license should be submitted to District Magistrate(DM).
  2. Refer “Office locations & Contacts” to contact the DM under particular jurisdiction. The office and contacts details are provided in the below.Link
  3. Applicants should submit the application along with the required documents to cancel the ownership of Firearm license.
  4. As per Arms Rule 2016, application form B-2 is used for cancellation or removal of Firearm license.
  5. The applicant can download the form from the below Link
  6. Applicant must download the Form B-2 from the link and fill the appropriate details.
  7. Applicants will be asked to fill only basic information which includes name, age, mobile number, gender, email Id, and also the license number, nearest police station, UIN number (available in employee’s Id card), area within which the license is valid, expiry date of license, and details about the Firearm.
  8. After entering all the applicable details, applicant must upload some supporting documents. Refer the “Required Documents” section below.
  9. After uploading all the supporting documents, applicant should submit the application to the District Magistrate of the jurisdiction.
  10. If the application and the supporting documents are alright, District Magistrate will approve the application orelse District Magistrate can reject the application, send back the application to the applicant.
  11. Once the application is processed successfully, the applicant receives an acknowledgement. This acknowledgement contains the application summary and the contact details of the person to be contacted.
  12. The entire processing time takes about 45 days. After the time period the applicant will be notified about the completion of processing.
  13. The applicant will receive the cancelled Firearm license card in applicant’s email provided. Applicant may download it and take a photocopy of the card.


Apply Online:

  1. In order to apply online, the applicant shall follow this link :Link
  2. Now click on “Apply Here” tab from the given options on the page.
  3. A new page will open up, where the applicant need to choose “State Home Department/DM/SDM/Other/MHA” from the given options.
  4. A form will open up which the applicant need to fill appropriately with details such as Category, State, District, Licensing Authority and Service.
  5. On providing the necessary details, the page will automatically redirect to another page where the applicant need to provide their UIN.
  6. Now click the captcha code and then click on “Get Detail”
  7. Proceed as further commanded on screen.
  8. The applicant may also check the status of the application by clicking on this link Link and providing details.

  • Medical certificate about mental health and physical fitness of the applicant with specific mention that the applicant is not dependent on intoxicating or narcotic substances.
  • Attested photocopy of the license card of the licensee.

EligibilityEdit

The eligibility is that the applicant should have a valid firearm license.
A close relation of the license holder (in case the license holder is deceased).

FeesEdit

As per Arms Rule 2016, the fee applicable to cancel or remove firearm license is Rupees Five Hundred.


ValidityEdit

Once the applicant receives his/her digitally signed cancelled firearm license, it is valid forever. If the license is needed again, he/she should re-apply for the license again for the firearm.
