Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To upgrade your Driver License in Madhya Pradesh the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

3. Application form can be downloaded using the following link: Application forms link
4. Application Forms 8 is required. The applicant can download the form from the following link link
5. The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying by reading through the eligibility criteria that has been listed out under the “Eligibility” section of this page.
   
6. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
   
7. Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that should be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
   
8. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
   
9. Applicant has to qualify the drive test. Applicant on successful completion of test drive will be asked to get photographed for the license copy and to imprint finger prints. Applicant will get the upgraded License
   
   

Apply through State Portal - Madhya Pradesh Upgrade Your Driver License online with Images

1. In order to apply online, please follow the link online state portal link
   
2. Select “License application and appointment system” option in the drop down menu under “Online services”.
   
3. In the next window, please select the Endorsement under DL- Driving License section to get the next page
   
4. Here enter the prompted details and hit “apply” to go to the next screen
   
5. Here, enter / select prompted details and complete the page by click selecting “Apply License”.
   
6. You will be prompted “Are you sure everything is correct”, please click “Ok”
   
7. In the next window details of application and appointment for your visit will be displayed. Please check for correctness and scroll down to view the details about fees to be paid.
   
8. You will be prompted to select option to pay. Select the option suitable for you to pay online and hit “Make Payment”.
   
9. You will be prompted to click “ok” if all the details are correct otherwise click “cancel”.
   
10. On selecting “Ok”, again there will be an prompt “I hereby accept the terms and conditions”
    
11. Payment gateway proceeds to complete the payment.
    
12. Upon completion, an application slip will be generated. Take the printout and go to RTO office on appointment day to complete the procedure.
    
13. At the RTO office, Present the print out of application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
    
14. From this point the process of apply in person will be carried out to issue upgraded license
    
    

Apply for Re-Test

1. In order to apply online, please follow the link online state portal link
   
2. Select “License application and appointment system” option in the drop down menu under “Online services”.
   
3. In the next window, please select the DL-ReTest under “Re-test Appointment”
   
4. In the next page, enter the reference id obtained at the time of applying and hit “Apply” to process online and get the Retest scheduled.

1. Completed application in Form 8.

4. Driving License
   
5. Valid Learner’s License for which additional class of vehicle is required.
   
6. Documents of vehicle in which applicant proposes to appear for test of competence to drive (such as Registration Certificate, Insurance Certificate, Tax Card, Pollution under Control Certificate, Fitness Certificate in case of Transport Vehicle).
   
7. Consent letter from vehicle owner, to conduct driving test in his vehicle if the vehicle is not owned by the applicant.
   
8. Passport size photographs-3 copies

Eligibility

• The person should have a valid driving license
  
• Should have completed 20 years of age for Transport Vehicles with 1 year experience in LMV

Validity

• A Driving License for a non transport vehicle is valid up to a period of 20 years or an age of 50 years whichever is earlier, and 5 years thereafter.
  
• Transport Vehicle License is valid for a period of 3 years from the date of issue or renewal.
  

Note: One can apply for a permanent license only after a month after receiving Learner's License

Need for the Document

• The need for upgrading from a valid driving license arises for the purpose of driving other vehicles. Other vehicles refer to the ones that are not covered under the current license.
  
• If a person who has a valid driving license to drive non transport vehicle and wanted to drive transport vehicle, then one needs to get his driving license upgraded.
  
• A driving license is an official document that states that a person may operate one or more types of motorized vehicles, such as a motorcycle, car, truck, or a bus, on a public roadway.
  
• Under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act,1988 in India, no person can drive a motor vehicle in any public place unless he holds a valid Driving License issued to him, authorizing him to drive a vehicle of that particular category.
  
• Driving without Driving license is an offense. Incumbent has to pay penalty
