Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To Renew Stage Carriage Permit in Madhya Pradesh, the applicant has to approach the nearest RTO office – link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant from the concerned officer. Application form can be downloaded using the following link: link
3. Make sure that the applicant has to completed application form for Stage carriage permit.
4. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
5. Please make sure that the applicant is eligible for this procedure.
6. Present the completed application forms in one of the counters and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
7. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed. Important verifications for the permit include Vehicle condition, seating arrangements etc., will be carried by authorities.
8. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed further.
9. The processing time for this procedure is within 5 days.

Apply online:

1. To renew stage- carriage permit the applicant has to make the application online via Madhya Pradesh transport department – link
2. The applicant has to click on the “Stage Carriage” menu to start the application.
3. Then the applicant has to click on their respective service.
4. Next the applicant has to enter their Vehicle registration number.
5. Next the applicant has to enter their particulars and details of the vehicles.
6. Applicant must make sure to carry all necessary documents that are mentioned under “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both photocopies and originals).
7. Then the applicant has to pay the appropriate fee as requested. The applicant has to download the receipt as a proof of payment.
8. Review the applicant and click submit.
9. This application will be processed by them and they will notify you through your e-mail or by SMS.

Required Documents

1. Respective application FORM for renewal (can be obtained from RTO)
   
2. Valid Stage Carriage permit that is going to expire.
   
3. Registration Certificate of the vehicle.
   
4. Fitness Certificate.
   
5. Proof of payment of tax for the current Quarter.
   
6. Insurance Certificate.
   
7. No object certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
   
8. Pollution Under Control Certificate
   
9. The resolution of the RTA
   
10. Route permits book, all in original.
    
11. Parking area certificate issued by any gazette officer/Police officer/Revenue authority of the area.
    
12. Recent copy of Map along with Form-F of the land housing the parking facility.
    
13. No objection certificate of the tenant if the vehicle is intended to be parked on the land of tenant other than the vehicle owner.

Validity

• The renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO
  
• Usually Permit is valid for 5 years. The age of the vehicle is also considered to restrict the validity of the permit

Instructions

Stage carriage permit is granted by the Chairman, State Transport Authority.

Required Information

• Full name of applicant
• Name of father (in case of an individual)
• Address
• The routes or area for which permit is desired
• The maximum number of vehicles which will ply at any one time under the terms of the permit.
• The minimum number of vehicles which will ply at any one time under the terms of the permit in the area, or on any route or any part of any route and the minimum number of daily vehicle-trips.
• The type or types of vehicle to be used on the service and the approximate seating capacity.
• Particulars of the time-table(s) proposed.
• The standard rate of fare which it is proposed to charge.
• Particulars of any stage or contract carriages permit (or similar authorisation under the Indian Motor Vehicles Act, 1914), valid in the Province, held by the applicant
• Particulars of any permit (or similar authorisation under the Indian Motor Vehicles Act, 1914), held by the applicant in respect of the use of any transport vehicle in "the Dominion of India" during the last four year, which has been the subject of an order of suspension of cancellation.

Need for the Document

• The stage carriage permit needs to be renewed before the validity of the permit lapse to ply the vehicle for the service.
  
• The need for Stage Carriage Permit arises with the requirement to operate trips in a route / area for carrying passengers with stages (Stops).
  
• The Stage Carriage Permit allows holders to service an area with a specific route. The permit also mentions the type of vehicle that is granted permission to operate, the approved timetable, the number of trips it can make in a day and standard rate of fare it can charge.
  
• No person shall be entitled to apply for the grant of a new stage carriage permit or for the renewal of a stage carriage permit, if the number of stage carriage permits already held by such person is not less than ten
