Madhya Pradesh - Pay Property Tax

- Urban Local Bodies (ULB) in Madhya Pradesh is responsible for collecting Property tax.
- The residential buildings with an Annual Rental Value of the property tax is below Rs.6000 for the Municipal having a population less than one lakh are exempted from property tax.
- A rebate of 6.25 % is allowed for the taxpayers who make the property tax payment on time before the due date.
- Property tax can be paid both Online as well as offline method
- The Madhya Pradesh Property tax is calculated and collected semi-annually. (a) End of June for the first half-year and (b) By the end of December for the second half-year
- Property Tax is calculated as per the below formula for residential propertirs:
- [PA * MRV * 12 (0.17-0.30)] – [10% (depreciation)] + [8% (library cess)]

Apply Online:
- In order to pay property tax through the online portal in Madhya Pradesh, please use this link: Online portal link
- In the given page, please select "Citizen Services" option in the menu and scroll to option "Property Tax" and then select option "Property Tax Citizen Login" to reach new page.
- The new page will prompt user to enter user ID / mobile number and password. Please enter appropriate details and hit “Login” tab provided below to login. (If not a registered user, one has to use the “Sign Up” tab to register as a user by following the screen prompts)
- Once the user Login, a separate window will open to give different options.
- User shall select "self-assessment/payment of existing property" under “Existing Property Related and Payment” option to get the next window.
- In the new window, user has to select / enter applicable information and hit “Search Property tab in the bottom to get matching Records for the information provided.
- User has to select his respective record to reach next page
- This new page provides details of property and property owner. User has to enter, mobile and email id as prompted and please select the check box “Self declaration agreement" option to select “Show tax and Arrears” from the extended option as displayed below.
- Resulting page shows the Property tax to be paid. Please hit “Pay online” tab on the bottom.
- User gets a page to confirm the amount to be paid.
- A transaction id will be generated for the proof of transaction, Please keep it safe.
- Please hit ”Confirm” tab to make payment
- Payment gateway page prompts user to select respective choice (Debit / Credit / Net banking) for making online payment and hit respective option to complete payment
- User shall save or print the acknowledgement for the payment made.
Apply through Paytm
- To Pay Property Tax, the applicant has to download the app from the following link – link
- The applicant has to click the “Municipality payment”.
- The applicant has to select the respective corporation from the list.
- The applicant has to enter the property ID and other minor details and then click the “Get Tax Amount” button.
- Now the amount will be displayed on the screen and click the “Proceed to pay” button.
- The applicant has to select the payment method.
- Enter the payment details and click the “Pay” button.
- The applicant can check the payment summary after the payment gets successful.
- The processing time for this procedure is complete within a few minutes.
Apply In-Person
- Property tax should be paid at the respective municipal offices concerned for your area.

- Submit the Property/Connection Id along with required documents to the concerned authority.
- As authorities verify the details and advise about the payment to make.
- Please use the respective challan to remit the fee in the fee counter, the applicant receives a receipt from the officials for the fees remitted. This receipt can be used as a proof for paying property tax.

Apply through CSC
- To Pay Property Tax, the applicant has to approach the nearest CSC centre – link
- NOTE: The applicant has to select a state, district and block name from the drop-down menu, or the applicant has to click on their respective district to find nearby centers.
- The applicant has to visit the centre and submit the tax pay invoice to an operator.
- The officer will check the details on the computer.
- Followed by the applicant can pay the amount to the officer by cash or online transaction.
- Once the payment process for the property tax is completed, the applicant will get a successful payment receipt from the officer.
- The processing time for this procedure is complete within a day.

- The rate prevalent in the street where the property is located

- The total span of the building’s existence.

The property tax paid is valid for one year. Every year, you should renew it. (In certain place the tax will be collected for six months too)

- Land owners / Property owners are subjected to pay certain amount to the concerned local government or to the municipal corporation of the concerned area are called as property tax.
- Property tax or 'house tax' is a local tax imposed on owners of an apartment, land and building by the Government. The governing authority of the jurisdiction levies the tax to the owner in which the property is located.
- Property tax clearance is required for most of other service like Water, Sanitary, Electricity connection etc.
- Owners of residential properties are liable to pay property tax to respective department on a specified period of time and has to be paid regularly (period can be 6 months or one year in respect to the state).
- Tax Exemption is applicable for selected citizens / organizations (Educational Institutions, Charitable institutions, Ex-serviceman / In-service man, retired pensioners association, NGO Homes/Teachers Association Buildings) as applicable.

- All residential and commercial (non-residential) properties are assessed for tax.
- The information about all the new constructions, existing construction and improvements to the property must be provided to the respective Department of the state to make necessary changes to tax assessment.
- Note: There will be strict action against the defaulters. It is advisable to pay the tax on time to avoid such situations.
