Procedure

A ration card needs to be cancelled in order to obtain Surrender Certificate so that consumer can apply for new one under certain circumstances like marriage, relocation, transfer etc.
Apply In-Person

1. To Cancel your Ration Card or Smart Ration Card, the applicant has to approach the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department – link
2. Applicant shall obtain the form from the respective office by visiting the office (please pay for the form if required) Or a written/electronically typed application on A4 plain sheet as advised shall be used.
3. Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
4. Please submit the completed cancellation application form, also attach original ration card.
5. Also attach the Other necessary documents which is mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
6. Authorities will do the due diligence of the submitted application and documents. They will verify with their records.
7. Please follow the authority’s guidelines for further processing.
8. Upon satisfactory results, consumer is provided with a cancellation certificate on the same day or as notified.

• Usually Family identity card is valid for lifetime and will be renewed in 5 years or based on announcement.
