Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for Goods Carriage vehicle Permit in Madhya Pradesh the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.
  2. Please follow our “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page to get details of the RTO offices. Link for RTO contacts: Link for contact
  3. Application form can be downloaded using the following link: Application forms
  4. Make sure you have completed application form for Goods carriage permit. Application forms can be obtained from respective RTO
  5. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
  6. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
  7. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  8. Important verifications for the permit includes Vehicle condition, Body built arrangements etc... Will be carried by authorities.
  9. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed further.

Apply through state portal

  1. In order to apply online, please follow the link Online State Portal link
  2. Select “Online Permit Application and Objection system” option in the drop down menu under “Online services”.
  3. In the next window, please click tab of “Goods Carriage” to get drop down menu for selecting different options listed.
  4. Select appropriate option to reach the next page. In the given page enter registration number of the vehicle and hit “Search”.
  5. In the next screen details of vehicle will be displayed.
  6. The details of any permit connected with vehicle will also be listed.
  7. scroll down to click “Apply for Fresh Permit” to get the details for processing
  8. Please enter / select prompted details to complete online filling of details and scroll down to click “Save Application” to process the application
  9. Upon completion, an application slip will be generated. Take the printout and go to RTO office on appointment day to complete the procedure.
  10. At the RTO office, Present the print out of application form in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  11. From this point the process of apply in person will be carried out to grant the permit

Required DocumentsEdit


  1. Make sure you have completed application form for Goods carriage permit. Application forms can be obtained from respective RTO
  2. Registration Certificate of the vehicle.
  3. Fitness Certificate of the vehicle.
  4. Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.
  5. Insurance Certificate.
  6. Payment of green tax wherever applicable.
  7. Affidavit Sworn by the applicant before an Executive (or) a First Class Judicial Magistrate (or) Notary Public
  8. Passport size photo-2
  9. No object certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
  10. Pollution under control certificate
  11. PROOF OF ADDRESS (any one of the following to be produced)
    • Ration Card
    • Aadhaar Card
    • Electoral Roll
    • LIC Policy
    • Passport
    • Pay slip issued - Govt. Office (or) a Local Body
  12. Age Proof (any one of the following)
    • School Certificate
    • Birth Certificate

ValidityEdit


  • Permit is usually valid for 5 years
  • The renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO
  • The age of the vehicle is also considered to restrict the validity of the permit
NOTE: Validity differs with the type of vehicle and also for the load the vehicle can manage

Need for the DocumentEdit


  1. A Regional Transport Authority may, on an application made to it under Rule 174 (iv) of the Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 grant a goods carriage permit to be valid throughout the State
  2. Goods Carriage Permit is issued to an applicant to use his motor vehicle for the carriage of goods for hire or reward or for the carriage of goods for or in connection with a trade or business carried by the applicant. In general, there is no restriction for grant of permits to goods vehicles.
  3. Vehicles with this permit……
    • Be used only in a specified area or on a specified route or routes
    • That goods of a specified nature shall not be carried
    • That goods shall be carried at specified rates etc.;,
  4. The age of the vehicle should not exceed 12 years.
  5. Goods Carriage National Permit means a permit granted by authority to a goods carriage vehicle to operate through-out India or in such States not being less than four in number including the states in which the permit is issued

  • Holder of the permit shall furnish to the Regional Transport Authority such periodical returns, statistics and other information as the State Government may, from time to time, prescribe.
  • FC (for clearance) is a process meant for reviewing the condition of the vehicle by the RTO authorities
