Procedure

• No individual can start or continue a business dealing drugs / cosmetics / medicine in India, unless an appropriate license is obtained from the designated authority.
• As different state has different parameters and regulations, as a first step applicant shall consult their local drug license authority to get advice on
  • Any updated rules and regulations in issuance of license.
  • Update on drugs that were included in the list for which license can’t be obtained.
  • Fees payment type etc.

Apply Online:

1. Please use the following link to apply online : link
2. In the given page please click on the “Drug sale licence” tab to reach the session and hit “Apply for new license” to reach the "New Drugs Sale Licence Application" page.
3. Applicant shall follow the page prompt to complete the Application Details, Applicant Personal Details, Local Address of Applicant, Permanent Address of Applicant and Applicant Qualification sections. Please click the checkbox for the declaration and finally click on the "Submit" button at the bottom.
4. A new page with application ID will be provided. Here, please upload the required documents as per the prompts and click the "Submit" button.
5. The applicant will get another page with system generated application form. Please go through the details and click the "Click for Digital Sign" button.
6. Please complete the digital signature process. After successfully digital signing application form, applicant can make payment.
7. After the successful completion of the above said steps, the application will be submitted. The applicant shall make use of the "Print" button on the application form page and print it.
8. In same way, the receipt can also be printed.
9. Please keep it safe for future reference.
10. The application will be sent automatically to the respective department.
11. This application will be processed further.
12. Once the acknowledgement and printout of online application in hand, please visit the respective drug inspector or the concerned authority with set of required documents. The authorities will verify the details. The authorities will provide the details about the rest of the process. The applicant shall follow the guidelines of the authorities.
13. Applicant gets notification about the process updates through "sms".
14. Once the applicant completes the other set of process as advised by the authorities by online or in person, the application will be processed further.
15. Drug inspector or the respective authority will inspect the premises for verifying the correctness.
16. On a scheduled date the inspection team/authority will inspect the premise.
17. After the inspection is over, Competent person will be asked to report for an interview.
18. Once the interview is complete and the above process are over, the controller of drugs or the appropriate authority will sanction the drug license.
19. If required, the applicant may be asked to pay the fees or charges as applicable.
20. The applicant will receive information about the issue of license.
21. The licence will hand delivered or can be download or delivered through mail or delivered as per applicable norms.

Note:

• Fee payment for the license is accepted in different formats like challan/cheque as applicable. Applicants are advised to take the consultation with the respective drug license authority for your area to prepare fees requirement.

Apply In Person:

1. To Apply for Drug License (Retail and Wholesale - Pharmacy), the applicant has to approach the Food & Drug Administration – link
2. The applicant has to get the application form from the office.
3. Get the form and complete the application form.
4. Make sure to attach all the necessary documents which is mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. Submit the completed form and documents to the officer.
6. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets the notification through SMS for inspection.
7. The officer does the drug inspection, once all the verification process gets completed.
8. The applicant gets the call from the office.
9. Fee for this procedure is mentioned in the “Fees” section of this page.
10. The applicant has to visit the office for further process.
11. The processing time for this procedure is up to 45 days.
