It is found in Art. 46 to 49 PGR. The legal basis for the implementation of name changes. In principle, a change of name may be made if important reasons in personal or business or professional relationships exist for it. In the implementation of changes of name according to Art. 46 ff. PGR however, the special provisions of the General Civil Code must be observed. In the Austrian Civil Code 139 are especially (name of the illegitimate child), authoritative 154 (consent of both parents of children with name changes) and 165 to 165 c (names leadership of the illegitimate child).

Need for the DocumentEdit
If you are using, or wish to use, a name other than your registered name, there is no legal requirement that you formally change your name. It is, however, recommended that you change your name officially, both for identification and as evidence of your name change.
Name change generally refers to the legal act by a person of adopting a name different from their name at birth, marriage or adoption. The procedures and ease of a name change vary between jurisdictions.

Change of name after a divorce

The civil registry is the central authority for civil status events. It introduces the various civil registers, takes Marriage, wearing a same-sex partnerships, edited birth, marriage and death events and can recognize foreign civil status events.
In addition, the civil registry is responsible for the registration and Liechtenstein national registration to illegitimate children Liechtenstein fathers.
