Procedure

1. Submit all the required documents at the Libyan Passport and Nationality Department office at the University of Sirte
2. Fill in the application form
3. The passport officer will verify the document submitted
4. Pay the application fee
5. Citizens abroad can apply for a passport at the Libyan embassy

Required Documents

• Fill out two passport application forms (please complete all of the required sections, particularly the Family Registry Number and the Family Booklet Number.)
• Three photographs taken against a light background
• Family booklet or a copy of the family booklet, or an administrative certificate related to the birth of the applicant issued by Civil Registration in Libya
• A true copy of the Libyan ID;
• A true copy of the birth certificate;

• Passport may be denied to citizens if documents provided are false

Other uses of the Document/Certificate

In a foreign country, a passport is the only way that I almost can prove (nationality, name, age, etc.) and who one is. Therefore, in a foreign country, passport will be required in various places unlike when you are in the country. More specifically,

• when the immigration, such as in airport
• when you check in to a hotel
• when using a (travel checks) travelers checks
• when asked to present identification from such police officers
