Procedure

Apply in Person:

1. No Nurse or midwife shall be allowed to practice or continue to practice in any year except such a Nurse has paid Licensing fees as prescribed by the Liberian Board for Nursing & Midwifery (LBNM) office, such application should be submitted on time before the lapse of the current license, to allow enough time for the renewal due process to be completed. 2. The licensee will be required to present his/her old license to be verified by the LBNM clerk's office the filing clerk will review the license using the cardex card before been issued with the appropriate renewal application form to complete and then bill the applicant according to how much he or she owes.
3. The office filing clerk will send the client to the various banks to pay the license renewal fees, the proof of payment should be attached to the complete application dossier as listed under the “Required Documents” section below and submitted for processing at the LBNM clerk office.
4. Once the verification and validation processes are over and if the application is found sufficient, it will be approved and the officials will proceed to take the required steps to issue the renewed license to be awarded to the client(s) within 72 hours, which shall be valid for a period of two years.
5. The client will be notified to collect his/her renewed Practicing license via text or phone call. One is required to bring proof of identification when collecting the documents. The old license will be perforated and returned to the client.
6. Upon being issued with the renewed license the licensee should update his/her renewal status.

Required Documents

• Completed License renewal application form.
• One white background passport-size photo if he/she wants to replace the old photo.
• Expired license.
• Photocopies of certificates of registration
• Original evidence of Payment of all applicable fees.
• Any other additional supporting documentation as requested by the Authority.

Eligibility

• The individual should be registered with the Liberian Board for Nursing & Midwifery (LBNM) and a holder of a practicing license.
• To be of good reputation and commendable conduct.
• To have never been sentenced in a felony or misdemeanor (for a custodial penalty in a crime involving moral turpitude or breach of trust, unless rehabilitated in either case). In short, not to have a criminal record.

Fees

• The license renewal fees will be specified by the Board during the renewal period.

Validity

• The validity of the practice license is two years, and the application for renewal should be submitted on time before the lapse of the current license, to allow enough time for the renewal due process to be completed.
• Late renewal incurs an additional penalty charge as prescribed by the Liberian Board for Nursing & Midwifery (LBNM).
