Procedure

How to Apply
Apply In-Person

1. Applicants should gather all the supporting documents (listed below) and visit the ministry of Trade and Industry, department of Industry, Manufacturing license office and submit the documents to the attending officer, who will then register your full names and date of deposit for the file.
2. Your application file will then be forward to the Director of industry or any other person entitled by the Director to assess the files.
3. Re-visit the Manufacturing license office checks the status of the application after the assessment by the Director within two to five working days.
4. If your application is approved you will be issued with two copies of the Advice form signed and stamp.
5. You should then Visit the One-Stop Business Facility Centre (OBFC), Account Department office, with the Advice forms and pay the required fees as indicated on it, upon which you will be issued with the payment receipt and the duplicate Advice form signed and stamped by the Account officer.
6. Return to the Manufacturing license office and submit the payment receipt and the signed and stamped duplicate Advice form, the attending officer.
7. Who will then prints and signs 2 original copies of the manufacturing licence and puts the mention "copy" on one of them.
8. You will head to the manufacturing office with the "copy" licence and submit it for filling by the department.
9. Re-visit the One-Stop Business Facility Centre (OBFC), licensing Department office, with the Manufacturing Licence (original + 5 simple copies) and have them certified.
10. The Licensing Assistant will then issue you with at least 2 certified copies Manufacturing Licence (1 for opening a bank account, 1 for LRA tax clearance). Some extra copies may be required for the residence permit (1) and the work permit (1) application.

• Environmental impact assessment clearance certificate (original)
• Certified identification document (valid driver’s license, passport ,ID card)

For Company additional documents

• Certificate of incorporation (simple copy)
• Company extract (simple copy)

For Specific business activities additional documents

• Food handler certificate (original) for food handlers only
• Certificate of analysis (original) for manufacturing of food, water, cream and medicine

Application fee

• LSL 50 for MSMEs
• LSL 500 for other license holders

License fee

• LSL 100 for MSMEs
• LSL 3000 for other license holders

Validity

• The license is issued for one year, then it has to be renewed.
