Applying process in Latvia for citizen and non citizen.

a. Apply In-Person
  1. PCC can be applied In-person to Ministry of Interior Information Centre.
  2. Address :

  3. Application forms can be obtained from the above office on your visit.
  4. Go to the office as per the address above. Don’t forget to take the required copy of documents along with originals to the office.
  5. Please follow as per authorities guidelines and submit the completed application along with documents.
  6. Applicant should pay for any charges if required as advised.
  7. This application will be processed by respective department.
  8. The certificate can be collected from the office where applicant applied in-person or will be delivered through mail upon notification or issued as per norms.


Applying process in Latvia for citizen and non citizen.

a. Apply through mail
  1. To Obtain a Police Clearance Certificate, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Interior Information Centre – link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned office mailing address.
  7. The mailing address is mentioned in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
  8. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
  9. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. #If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  10. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
  11. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
  12. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
  13. The applicant has to visit the office to get the clearance certificate.
  14. This entire process can be completed within 5 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.


Applying process – overseas for both citizen and non citizen

a. Apply at embassy or consulate
  1. Applicant can apply at their nearest embassy or consulate in person. Link to locate the embassy or consulate: link
  2. Application form can be obtained from the embassy or consulate. Call the office and fix appointment for personal visit. Also find out the details for this procedure.
  3. On the scheduled date, go to the office with all the document in original and in copy. Please follow as per officer guidelines to process your application.
  4. This application will be processed by the respective department. The completed certificates are forwarded to the concern.
  5. Applicant shall collect the certificate with the respective office upon notification or can get it delivered as per norms applicable.

EligibilityEdit

  • Applicant with valid passport and a valid address proof.
  • Age: 16 years and above. In case of minors, the application must be submitted by the parent exercising parental authority, if the minor has not turned 16 years.
  • The current address of the applicant must be same as in the passport and other supporting documents.
  • Applicants who are in need of residential status, employment or long term visa or for immigration to a foreign nation.

Latvian diplomatic and consular missions abroad can request documents from the archives of Latvia as well from other Latvian institutions (birth certificate, police clearance certificate ect)

The forms can be completed electronically or in legible handwriting. All three forms must be filled out in the original, copies are not accepted. The applicant must provide complete and accurate information and the forms must be signed by the applicant (also those in digital format).

The document requisition form has been adapted to requesting different categories of documents and, therefore, only the column pertaining to the requested document must be completed.

A police certificate is an official document issued by police or government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may or may not have. Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings.

Police certificate is also known as good citizen certificate, good conduct certificate, police clearance certificate, or judicial record extracts. Applicants may have to submit fingerprints and certain personal information to request a criminal record check, and the police or government agency may charge a fee. If no record found, the police certificate will indicate such.


Information which might helpEdit

Each visa applicant at least 16 years of age must submit an original police certificate from the police authorities of the applicant's country of current residence if the applicant has resided there for at least six months after attaining the age of sixteen. Police certificates are also required from all other countries where the applicant has resided for at least one year after attaining the age of sixteen. A police certificate must also be obtained from the police authorities of any country where the applicant has been arrested for any reason, regardless of how long he or she lived there. Police certificates must cover the entire period of the applicant's residence in any area. A certificate issued by the police authorities in your current place of residence must be of recent date when presented to the consular officer. The term "police certificate" as used in this paragraph means a certification by appropriate police authorities stating what their records show concerning each applicant, including all arrests, the reasons for the arrests, and the disposition of each case for which there is a record. Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit

It is a copy of your criminal record or a declaration of the absence of any criminal record. Police clearance certificates are different in each country and territory and may be called police certificates, good conduct certificates, judicial record extracts, pcc, etc. They are issued by police authorities or government departments and used by Citizenship and Immigration to prevent individuals who possess a risk to Country's security from entering the country.
