Procedure

Following are the ways through which Allowance for Child Care can be applied:

• In-Person
• By Post

In-Person

1. The applicant can approach one of the State Social Insurance Agency (SSIA) offices where an application can be made.

By Post

1. When applying through post the applicant should complete the application form that can be found under the following link : More Info & Application Form
2. Also, make sure you attach all the documents that are listed under the Required Documents section of this page.
3. The application can be sent to one of the SSIA centers after completing it, where address can be found under the following link : SSIA Office Information
   
   

Electronically

An electronic application can be made through the State Regional Development Agency Portal : Portal Link

Required Documents

• Completed appropriate application form
• A copy of the document on registration of the birth fact of the child issued by a competent institution of the foreign country must be submitted together with the application and the original thereof must be presented (when applying for the benefit by post a notarized copy of this document must be annexed to the application) if child born in foreign country.

Eligibility

• Citizens of Latvia, non-citizens, foreigners and stateless persons permanently residing in Latvia, to whom a personal identity code has been granted.
  
  

Note : The allowance is not granted to people, who have received a temporary residence permit.

Period of Claiming :
Application for granting of the allowance for child care must be submitted no later than within 12 months from the moment of acquiring the right. If the application is submitted later, the allowance will be granted only for the 12 previous months before the day of requesting the allowance.

Fees

Validity

Processing Time
