- Applicant should make sure to carry photocopies and originals of all necessary documents while applying for this procedure.

- Applicant must attach photocopies of documents (Whichever is necessary) along with the application form while submitting for this procedure.
- Fee for this procedure has to be paid as per authority’s request.
- If all above – mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, concerned authorities will provide notification to the applicant regarding their crop insurance scheme within 30-45 days.
- If there is no information provided regarding the crop insurance scheme to the applicant, then, the applicant can visit the office to know status of their application.
- The application will be processed and information will be verified by the agricultural office.
Apply Online
- To Apply for Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS), the applicant has to make the application online via link
- In the given new window, click “Apply for Crop Insurance by yourself”.
- The applicant has to click the “Login for farmer”.
- The applicant has to enter the mobile and click the “Request for OTP”.
- Now the applicant has to enter the details and click the “Create user”
- Once login, in the given page click “Correction in personal details” button.
- A new page prompts user to choose either “Self” or “Family” as per requirement. Please choose as per requirement and click “Next” button.
- User shall also select the language of choice.
- In the new page please enter the Part number and Serial number at the prompted space. Make entries which require changes or correction. Fill the required details correctly.
- Upload relevant documents as applicable. Please enter email ID, Phone number and other details as applicable.
- Enter the “captcha” at the prompted space and click “Submit” button to apply online.
- A system generated reference id will be displayed as acknowledgement.
- Save this id safe for future reference to check the status.
- This application will be processed by the agriculture department.
- The internal process will be initiated to verify the details.
- Follow the notification to get the crop insurance scheme.

The eligibility criteria to obtain the insurance benefit of Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme includes-
Eligible Farmers Under the Scheme:
- Farmers, including tenant cultivators and sharecroppers cultivating crops in the specified area, are eligible.
- Note: The insurable interest for the insured crop is mandatory for farmers.
- Farmers opting for Seasonal Agricultural Operations (SAO) loans from any Financial Organisations (loanee farmers) for the notified crops are covered mandatorily.
- WBCIS provides additional benefits to SC/ST Women farmers. However, for non-loanee farmers, WBCIS is optional.
Eligible Crops Under the Scheme
- Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS) covers crop varieties, including-
- Food crops like cereals, pulses and millets.
- Oilseeds.
- Commercial or horticulture crops.

- Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (WBCIS) aims to mitigate the hardship of the insured farmers against the likelihood of financial loss on account of anticipated crop loss resulting from adverse weather conditions relating to rainfall, temperature, wind, humidity etc.
- WBCIS aims to provide insurance protection to the framer against adverse weather incidence. Such as deficits and excess rainfall, high or low temperature, humidity etc.

- With the objective to bring more frames under the fold of crop insurances, a pilot weather based crop insurance scheme (WBCIS) was launched in 20 states since Kharif /Rabi 2007.
- Crop insurance also protects farmers against the loss of crops due to natural disasters, extreme weather, or revenue loss owing to price fluctuations in the agricultural market. A farmer who struggles with his plough will be assured that, in the case of a disaster, he will at least receive some return.
