Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Transfer Name for Water Connection, the applicant has to approach the Irrigation and Flood Control Department – link Public Health Engineering Department - link Municipal Committee – link
2. Procure the prescribed application form for name change request by paying the required application form fee.
3. Get the application form from the concerned officer.
4. Fill all the required details of the form
5. Attach the photocopy of all the required documents as mentioned in the required documents section of our page.
6. Submit the documents to the concerned authority.
7. Pay the required processing fee.
8. Receive any provided acknowledgement for further reference.
9. The authorities will check if all the necessary documents have been submitted.
10. Site verifications will be made by the authority officers if required.
11. After this verification, your request will be further processed by the authorities and the necessary changes will be made in the computer records within the next billing cycle.

• Affidavit in the stamp paper of required value attested by Notary Public
• Attested copy of succession certificate
• NOC from the co-owner
• Address proof and Id proof of the applicant from the following:
• Aadhaar card
• Driving Licence
• Ration card
• Voter ID
• PAN Card
  

Note: Other required documents have to be submitted if necessary. Carry the original and photocopy of the necessary documents for any cross verifications to be made.

• Residents of ladakh, who wish to transfer water connection ownership from the previous owner.

Fees

• Details of service processing fee will be provided while submitting your application.

Validity

• The name change is valid till the change of next ownership due to sale of the property or other reasons.

Need for the Document

• A water bill is one of the utility bills which could be used as address proof for banks, passports, etc.
• The water bill will always bear the previous owner’s name until it is changed to a new ownership. For this reason, it is always advisable to change the ownership of water connection when purchasing a new property or after legal succession.

Information which might help

• The new consumer might be asked to change the water meter if it is not in working condition.
• One has to pay the monthly dues regularly. Reconnection charges might be levied on the consumer if the connection was disconnected due to pending dues.
