Apply In-Person
- To Apply for Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana(PMJDY), the applicant has to approach their respective local bank officer.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the bank officer or it can be downloaded from the given following link link
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
- One of the key features of PMJDY is that there is no requirement for a minimum balance in the account.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
- And the bank will open a basic savings bank deposit account (BSBDA) for the applicant.
- There are no application fees for the scheme.
- Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
- The applicant has to visit the bank to collect the PMJDY passbook/check book/Rupay debit card.
- This entire process can be completed in 15-30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective bank.
NOTE:
- Once the account has been opened, after 6 months the applicant can take a loan of Rs 5000 from the bank account.

EligibilityEdit
- The applicant must be Indian citizenship and should be above 10 years of age.
- The applicant can open a PMJDY bank account even if they have another saving account, in that case, they have to change it to a PMJDY account to avail of the benefits.

- Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is National Mission for Financial Inclusion to ensure access to financial services, basic savings & deposit accounts, remittance, credit, insurance, and pension in an affordable manner.
- Under the scheme, a basic savings bank deposit (BSBD) account can be opened in any bank branch or Business Correspondent (Bank Mitra) outlet, by persons not having any other account.
