  1. To Apply forPost Entry Quarantine for Importing Plants in India, the applicant has to approach the Plant Quarantine Information System Link
    Note: The Exporting applicant needs to obtain a Phytosanitary Certificate from the National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO) of their exporting country. This certificate confirms that the plants are free from pests and diseases and meet the import requirements of India.
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer. or it can be downloaded from the following link
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned PQ officer, the application should be submitted at least seven days before the expected arrival of the consignment.
  6. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as per mentioned by the concerned officer.
  7. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
  8. The concerned PQ officer will inspect the plants to ensure that they meet the import requirements of India. If any pests or diseases are found, the plants will be destroyed or returned to the country of origin.
  9. Once the process gets completed, if the plants pass the PEQ inspection, they will be released for further processing and distribution within India.
  10. This entire process can be completed within 2 -3 weeks or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

EligibilityEdit

  • Post-entry quarantine means growing imported plants in confinement for a specified period in a glass house, screen house, poly house, or any other facility, or isolated field, or an off-shore island that is established under guidelines/ standards and is duly approved and certified by an inspection authority notified under this order.
