Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Electrical Grade A Contractor (EA) License, the applicant has to approach the State Electricity Licensing Board link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
9. All applications are processed within a reasonable time, having regard to the particular circumstances of each application, including the completeness of information and documents submitted to the authority by the applicant.
10. The authority may seek additional information from an applicant if this is necessary to assess the application. The authority does not need to deal further with an application until the applicant has provided this additional information.
11. Once everything is approved the authority will issues the license.
12. This entire process can be completed within 30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

• Proof of identity (AADHAR Card, Voter’s Licence)
• Proof of Address (Ration Card/Rental Agreement)
• Documents stating the details of previous works

Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria for Class A

• Individual or legal entity either partnership or proprietorship firm or private firm having a least 3 years’ experience as a “B” or “C” class contractor. He shall have successfully executed minimum 10 numbers of High-tension installations.
• Individuals or the owner of the firms or all partners of the firms who are engineers having 5 years of experience in electrical operation and maintenance.
• Individuals or the firm who is already having a license issued by the competent authority of any other state and having experience of at least three years in electrical works of above 33kv voltage level with the successful execution of 10 numbers of HT installation.

Fees

• The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as per the authority request.

Validity

Explain the time until which the certificate/document is valid.

• Name in which Electrical Contractor's licence is applied for
• Business address
• Full name and house address of proprietor or partners or Directors
• Age and qualification
• Father/Husband's name
• Present business of the applicant.
• Number and validity of the competency certificate
• details of previous experience with period.
• If the applicant has worked under a contractor, licensed by this Licensing Board, the name address and licence No. of the contractor
• Name and designation of authorised signatory if any in the case of limited company.
• Details of Staff appointed on full time basis

Need for the Document

• EA license is nothing but an Electrical contractor license for medium voltage which means the license holder can take an electrical installation, maintenance, etc. work under the voltage level of 22kV. Also the license holder can share their contract work to ESB and B level contractor. At the same time the license holder cannot be permitted to take work on more than 22kV electrical installations.
