Procedure

Applying process in Kosovo for citizen and non citizen.

a. Apply In-Person

1. PCC can be applied in-person at the local police station where you reside .

3. Application forms can be obtained from the respective office on your visit.
4. Go to the respective office. Don’t forget to take the required copy of documents along with originals to the office.
5. Please follow as per authorities guidelines and submit the completed application along with documents.
6. Applicant should pay for any charges if required as advised.
7. This application will be processed by respective department.
8. The certificate can be collected from the office where applicant applied in-person or will be delivered through mail upon notification or issued as per norms.

Applying process – overseas for both citizen and non citizen

a. Apply through e-mail :

1. Applicant can apply by email to the Kosovo Police Directorate.
2. E-mail ID : [email protected]
3. Please mail your application, document and fees paid details to the above e-mail address
4. This application will be processed by the respective department.
5. Once the certificate is generated, user gets notification and the certificate will be delivered as per applicable norms.

Applying process – in Kosova and overseas for both citizen and non citizen

a. Apply through representative

1. Applicant may apply through a representative (close family member is mandatory. Overseas applicant shall contact the local police station where they lived in Kosovo for representative assignment).

3. The representative should be entrusted with the written authorization.
4. Representative will go to the respective office. They should not forget to take the required copy of documents.
5. Please follow as per authorities guidelines and submit the completed application along with documents. Applicant should pay for any charges if required as advised. Applicant filled application form should be used.
6. This application will be processed by respective department.
7. The certificate can be collected from the office where it was applied or issued as per norms.

Representative should carry the following while applying.

• ID card or passport.

• Valid identity document (identity card, passport, driving license).
• Valid passport.
• Citizen proof/Document of National Identity (DNI).

Foreign national

• A copy of your passport while living in Kosovo.
• A copy of your permit of stay in Kosovo, passport number and place of issue as well.
• Proofs of legal stay (copy of passport held during the said period with respective stamp and seal).

Eligibility

• Applicant with valid passport and a valid address proof.
• Age: 16 years and above. In case of minors, the application must be submitted by the parent exercising parental authority, if the minor has not turned 16 years.
• The current address of the applicant must be same as in the passport and other supporting documents.
• Applicants who are in need of residential status, employment or long term visa or for immigration to a foreign nation.

Instructions

Each individual has the right to contact any police station for the purpose of ordering a certificate regarding his or her criminal record, which will be sent according to the law, directly to foreign missions in Kosovo, to Kosovo missions abroad or to international adoption agencies, depending on the available data.

It is the applicants responsibility to contact the relevant authorities to obtain the necessary police certificates or clearances. Each countrys procedures are different. Applicants may have to apply to more than one level of government or more than one agency - municipal, provincial, state, federal and the police, courts or similar governmental agencies for the police certificate. If a police certificate cannot be obtained from any of the countries on the list, provide a written explanation why and an original letter from the police authority confirming that it will not issue a certificate.

In most cases, you must contact the police or government to ask for a certificate. You may have to:

• provide information or documents, such as photographs, fingerprints, or your addresses and dates that you lived in the country or territory, and
• pay a fee.

Local Requests

• You can apply by sending an e-mail to the following governmental address: [email protected]. You should attach a scanned copy of your passport and indicate the period of stay in Kosovo. Or a close family member can apply on your behalf in Kosovo.

Non-Resident Requests

• Close family members or a representative certified by the court or notary can apply on your behalf in Kosovo. Representatives must present a birth, marriage or family composition certificate issued by UNMIK.

Required Information

• Your full name as on your birth certificate including your maiden name if applicable
• Your date and place of birth (or a copy of your birth certificate)
• Your current address
• All addresses at which you have lived at in Ireland and when you lived there
• The place and purpose for which you require the Certificate

Need for the Document

A police certificate is an official document issued by police or government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may or may not have. Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings.

It is an official document issued by the police in a country, certifying the criminal record or otherwise of the applicant. Ideally, every adult who has been a resident in any country for six months and over requires a police clearance certificate from that country when applying for visa or immigration services.

Sometimes people who intend to work abroad or in highly sensitive establishments also require reports of good behavior, especially from the police, before they are allowed to work.

A police certificate is a copy of your criminal record or a statement that you do not have a criminal record. Police certificates are different in each country and territory. They may be called:

• police clearance certificates,
• good conduct certificates,
• judicial record extracts or
• other names.
