Residents of Kerala can transfer the ownership of an existing water connection through the following procedure.
Apply In-Person:

  1. To Transfer Name for Water connection, the applicant has to approach the respective Kerala Water authority office of your area in-person link
  2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
  3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
  4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. You could also download the form online from the webpage by selecting the “Download Form” option in the right: link
  6. The applicant has to attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
  7. The authorities will check if all the necessary documents have been submitted and will ask the applicant to pay the processing fee.
  8. Pay the required processing fee and register your service.
  9. Receive the acknowledgement receipt or get the photocopy of the form counter signed for further reference.
  10. Site verifications will be made by the authority officers if required.
  11. After this verification, your request will be further processed by the authorities and the necessary changes will be made in the computer records within the next billing cycle.



Apply Through CSC

  1. To Transfer Name for Water Connection, the applicant has to approach respective “CSC” centre link
    • NOTE: The applicant has to select state, district and block name from the drop-down menu, or the applicant has to click on their respective district to find nearby centres.
  2. Please visit the centre and consult with the centre operator for your requirement.
  3. If the operator issues an application form, then collect it and pay the requisite fee. Please complete the application form.
  4. Now, submit the completed application along with the required documents as per the “Required Documents” section of this page. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
  5. The operator will process the application online. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement. The applicant will also get a transaction number as a text message on their registered mobile number.
  6. Applicant has to make necessary payment as centre operator quotes and don’t forget to take the receipt.
  7. This application will be forwarded to the respective department for further processing.
  8. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile. Please keep track of the notification.
  9. The submitted application will be processed by the department. A designated authority (supply officer) will verify the submitted documents and inspect the area of the applicant to clarify the applicant’s details.
  10. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection will be conveyed to the applicant through an “SMS” or applicable norms.
  11. Once all the process gets completed, the applicant has to get the updated slip from the office.

  • Water supply agreement in stamp paper worth Rs.200
  • N.O.C/Death Certificate of Previous Owner/Indemnity Bond having clause of NOC, no dispute on ownership of the property as applicable
  • Address proof and Id proof of the applicant from the following:
  • Aadhaar card
  • Driving Licence
  • Ration card
  • Voter ID
  • PAN Card


Note: Other required documents have to be submitted if necessary. Carry the original and photocopy of the necessary documents for any cross verifications to be made.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • A water bill is one of the utility bills which could be used as address proof for banks, passports, etc.
  • The water bill will always bear the previous owner’s name until it is changed to a new ownership. For this reason, it is always advisable to change the ownership of water connection when purchasing a new property or after legal succession.

  • The new consumer might be asked to change the water meter if it is not in working condition.
  • One has to pay the monthly dues regularly. Reconnection charges might be levied on the consumer if the connection was disconnected due to pending dues.
