Kerala - Renew Goods Carriage State Permit

To apply for renewal of Goods Carriage State Permit in Kerala the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed. Important verifications for the permit includes Vehicle condition, seating arrangements etch; will be carried by authorities.

Apply online :

Visit the following portal: online portal.
Select the “Permit Online” option under “Other Online Services”.
Select “Chandigarh” in the drop down menu and click “proceed”.
Please follow the screen and fill in prompted details to process the online procedure.
Upload required documents and take printouts of acknowledgement.
On the appointment date, go to the RTO office before 11:30 am and submit the documents to the officer at the office. The officer will mark the amount needed to be paid at the respective counter.
Pay the fees and submit the document at the counter.
Authorities will process the application further and the applicant will get the permit in a stipulated period of time.

Apply through Centres:

To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
The operator will process the application online.
On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any, will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
If verified, the permit will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying in a stipulated period of time.

Valid permit that is going to expire.
Registration Certificate of the vehicle.
Fitness Certificate.
Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.
Insurance Certificate.
No object certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
Pollution Under Control Certificate
The resolution of the RTA
Route permits book, all in original.
Parking area certificate issued by any gazette officer/Police officer/Revenue authority of the area.
Recent copy of Map along with Form-F of the land housing the parking facility.
No objection certificate of the tenant if the vehicle is intended to be parked on the land of tenant other than the vehicle owner.

The renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO
Usually Permit is valid for 5 years. The age of the vehicle is also considered to restrict the validity of the permit

A Regional Transport Authority may, on an application made to it under Rule 174 (iv) of the Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 grant a goods carriage permit to be valid throughout the State
Goods Carriage Permit is issued to an applicant to use his motor vehicle for the carriage of goods for hire or reward or for the carriage of goods for or in connection with a trade or business carried by the applicant. In general, there is no restriction for grant of permits to goods vehicles.
Vehicles with this permit……
- Be used only in a specified area or on a specified route or routes
- That goods of a specified nature shall not be carried
- That goods shall be carried at specified rates etc.,
The age of the vehicle should not exceed 12 years.
Goods Carriage National Permit means a permit granted by authority to a goods carriage vehicle to operate through-out India or in such States not being less than four in number including the states in which the permit is issued

Holder of the permit shall furnish to the Regional Transport Authority such periodical returns, statistics and other information as the State Government may, from time to time, prescribe.
FC (for clearance) is a process meant for reviewing the condition of the vehicle by the RTO authorities
