Apply In-Person :

  1. To apply for renewal of Contract Carriage Motor Cab Permit in Kerala the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

  3. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
  4. Please make sure that you are eligible for this procedure
  5. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
  6. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  7. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed. Important verifications for the permit includes Vehicle condition, seating arrangements etch; will be carried by authorities.

Apply online :

  1. Visit the following portal: portal.
  2. Now select the state from the drop down menu.
  3. After selecting the state the applicant will be redirected to the Vahan Parivahan website.
  4. On the new page on the left side there is a box to select state and RTO, click on proceed.
  5. Select online services to “Apply for Transfer of Ownership, Change of Address, Hypothecation [Addition/Continuation/Termination], Duplicate RC]”.
  6. Next select Application for New Certificate > Enter Chassis number > Enter Mobile Number > Click Generate OTP. #Now select the desired option.
  7. Fill in all the details and pay the application fees.
  8. Note the application number and visit the nearest RTO for details regarding date, time, and venue for vehicle inspection.
  9. Appear at the given date and time for getting the vehicle inspected to get the license.



Apply through Centres:

  1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
  2. Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
  4. The operator will process the application online.
  5. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
  6. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any, will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
  7. If verified, the certificate permit license will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying in a stipulated period of time.

  1. Valid permit that is going to expire.
  2. Registration Certificate of the vehicle.
  3. Fitness Certificate.
  4. Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.
  5. Insurance Certificate.
  6. No object certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
  7. Pollution Under Control Certificate
  8. The resolution of the RTA
  9. Route permits book, all in original.
  10. Parking area certificate issued by any gazette officer/Police officer/Revenue authority of the area.
  11. Recent copy of Map along with Form-F of the land housing the parking facility.
  12. No objection certificate of the tenant if the vehicle is intended to be parked on the land of tenant other than the vehicle owner.
  13. Aadhar card
  14. PROOF OF ADDRESS (any one of the following to be produced)
    1. Ration Card
    2. Aadhaar Card
    3. Electoral Roll
    4. LIC Policy
    5. Passport
    6. Pay slip issued - Govt. Office (or) a Local Body
  15. Age Proof (any one of the following)
    1. School Certificate
    2. Birth Certificate

  • The renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO
  • Usually Permit is valid for 5 years. The age of the vehicle is also considered to restrict the validity of the permit

  • Motor Cab Permit is needed for an tourist vehicle operator to carry passengers on a hire / rental basis from one place to another
  • Motor cab means any motor vehicle constructed or adapted to carry not more than six passengers, excluding the driver for hire.
  • Motor cab are actually taxi services that carry people from pickup point to drop point
