Apply In-Person:

  1. Applicant has to reach out to the Ground Water Department in Kerala contact link.
  2. After getting the application form, the applicant has to fill in all the necessary details that are needed for getting the permit.
  3. Applicant has to make sure to carry all the related documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page. (Both Photocopies and originals).
  4. The photocopies of the necessary documents should be attached along with the application form before submitting.
  5. After the submission process, the concerned officer will ask for a site inspection to the applicant via SMS or Call.
  6. Applicant must confirm the site visit and concerned officials will visit the site of the applicant.
  7. After the site visit is over, the officer will provide approval for closing the well.
  8. Applicant has to pay the fee as prescribed by the concerned authority.
  9. After that, the applicant can get their certificate within a week by visiting the office.
  10. If permission is cancelled, applicant can visit the office for reapplication process.



Apply through Centres:

  1. To apply through centres, the applicant has to visit the respective “CSC” centre. Please tap on the following link to locate the centre according to the respective district: link.
  2. Make sure to have the documents that are listed under the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  3. It is advised to take the documents in original to the kiosk for scanning purposes.
  4. The operator will process the application online.
  5. On successful submission, the applicant will receive an application number as acknowledgement.
  6. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any, will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS.
  7. If verified, the permit will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying in a stipulated period of time.

  • If applicant is not the owner of the land in which the well exists, then an NOC or a Power of Attorney from the owner of the land along with the ID Proofs on a stamp paper is necessary.

  • ID Proof, Form of the land which has the well, NOC from the owner (If the applicant is not owner of the land).

  • It takes around 15-30 days for the site visit process.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • Certificate of Permission is necessary for closing of abandoned wells and other bore wells.
