Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. Applicant shall approach the local police station within the jurisdiction the premises is situated.

3. Go to the respective police station and consult with the designated authority (Station House officer) about the application procedure for this license. Collect the application form or write on a plain A4 sheet as advised.
4. Complete the application form. Write a covering letter mentioning the purpose for which the license is required. Attach the required documents as per our “Required Documents” section of this page and submit it to the designated receiving authority in triplicate.
5. After receiving the application, authorities will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted. Please pay the application fees/charges as applicable and don’t forget to take the receipt.
6. Authority will sign and seal one set (photo copy of the original) of the application and return it to the applicant. This signed application is the proof for the submission of your application.
7. Please keep it safe for future reference.
8. Authorities will make entries about this application in the manual record or electronically using the computer.*Applicant will be informed of the probable date of getting approval for the license.
9. This application will be processed further. Concerned authorities will verify the applicant’s details and documents.
10. ”SMS” triggered update on application status will be sent to the applicant’s mobile or applicant gets a call from the police station about the application status.
11. Once verified, this application will be forwarded to the inspection team / authority for inspection and verification.
12. On a scheduled date, the concerned authority will inspect the premises and make verification of the facts as per the application form.
13. A report will be created after verification and this report will be submitted to the respective licensing authority.
14. Based on the outcome of the above report and other internal processing, the designated issuing authority will take a decision on issuance of this license.
15. The status, viz. Approval or Rejection if any will be conveyed to the applicant through an SMS or through phone call.
16. If approved, the licence will be hand delivered or sent through post to the address mentioned while applying or issued as per applicable norms.

Note:

• Applicant has to bring original documents while applying for cross verification purpose.
  
• Without cross signature on photograph and signature on undertaking, the application will be rejected.
  
• !n case of incomplete application, the applicant shall be informed of the shortcomings within 7 working days.
  
• The competent authority has the discretion to refuse the licence if it appears to him/her that such place may cause obstruction, inconvenience, annoyance, risk, danger or damage to the residents or passengers in the vicinity and the applicant is not a suitable person.

• Affidavit on stamp paper of Rs 10/- (or as per the advised amount) by the applicant duly notarized
• Blue print of the site and building plan
• Proof of Date of birth (certificate such as 10th Standard certificate)
• Aadhaar card

Eligibility

• Applicant should be a citizen of India.

Validity

• License is valid for a year or as notified on the license.
• License needs to be renewed annually or as per the time period mentioned on the certificate.

Need for the Document

• A valid police license is required to operate a lodging business.
• Lodges are public places. It is necessary for all the lodges to maintain a proper data of all guests who are visiting the lodge. The police department use to monitor the day-to-day ledger maintained for the police inspection.
• No lodging business shall operate without proper license from police department.
• Apply and obtain this license for a legitimate operation.
