- One has to make police complaint and obtain a FIR for applying duplicate copy in case of the license is lost or stolen.
- If the license is damaged, torn or mutilated then, the remains can be submitted for applying duplicate license.

Apply In-Person :
- To apply for duplicate driving school license in Kerala the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

- Also make sure you have all the necessary documents to process the application
- Present the completed application forms along with documents in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
- Once the application is received, the authorities will start processing the application
- They will verify document submitted.
- Upon successful completion the license will be issued
Note: The duplicate licence issued will bear the mark in Red as “ DUPLICATE”

- The validity of Duplicate Licence is same as the licence validity.
- Usually :
- Permanent License is valid for 5 years and can be renewed for 5 years
- Temporary license is valid for 1 year
- Permanent License is valid for 5 years and can be renewed for 5 years

Need for the DocumentEdit
- The Central Government has framed certain rules with regard to the establishment of driving schools, the requirements to be fulfilled by such licensees, authority competent to grant, renew, and suspend/revoke such licenses and all other related matters.
- Every driving school has to get a license from the concerned licensing authority and a duty is cast upon them to produce “quality drivers” for which quality training is absolutely necessary and has to be renewed in order to train.
- The quality of drivers is also crucial in prevention of accidents. The driving schools, therefore, play a key role in producing skillful drivers who could meet the international standards.

- The driving schools run by the individuals/others are regulated by certain statutory provisions as under Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and C.M.V.Rules,1989
- Section 12 of M.V. Act 1988 deals with the licensing and regulation of driving schools or establishments (by whatever name called) for imparting instruction in driving of motor vehicles and related matters.
