Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Driving Experience Letter (Letter of Authentication), the applicant must approach the Regional Transport Office of their respective state – link
2. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant must attach the photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting.
6. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
7. The applicant must pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
8. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
9. The authority may seek additional information from an applicant if this is necessary to assess the application. The authority does not need to deal further with an application until the applicant has provided this additional information.
10. The RTO will review your application and, if it is approved, they will issue you a Driving Experience Letter. The letter will state your driving history, including the date you obtained your license, the classes of vehicles you are authorized to drive, and any traffic violations you have committed.
11. This entire process can be completed within 15 -30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.

1. To Obtain Driver License Extract (DL Extract), the applicant can make the application online via the following link link
2. The applicant must click “Online Services” and select “Driving License Related Services” from the drop-down menu.
3. Then the applicant must select the respective state from the drop-down menu.
4. On the next tab, the applicant must click “DL Extract” and read the instructions and click “Continue”
5. In the next page the applicant must enter Driving license number and date of birth and click “Get DL Details” and click “Proceed”
6. Next the applicant must fill in all the necessary details and upload all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
7. Review the application and click “Submit”
8. The applicant must pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
9. An acknowledgment receipt will be displayed. Please save it for future reference, it contains the application summary and contact details of the person to be contacted.
10. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
11. This entire process can be completed within 15 -30 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
