Procedure

Apply In-Person :

1. To apply for Contract Carriage Temporary Motor Cab Permit in Kerala the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to.

5. Application forms can also be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees.
   
6. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
   
7. Important verifications for the permit includes Vehicle condition, Body built arrangements etc... will be carried by authorities.
   
8. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed further.

1. To apply for Contract Carriage Temporary Motor Cab permit, the applicant has to visit the official portal of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways: Link to Portal
2. In the homepage, please scroll down to “Informational Services” and click on the “more” button in the “Citizen Guide” tab.
3. The applicant will be taken to the “Manual” page where all the available services will be listed.
4. Please click on the name of the required service and click on “Step by Step procedure” from the drop down menu.
5. The applicant will be taken to a new PDF page where the process for applying will be explained clearly.
6. Please follow the steps to complete the application.

Required Documents

1. Registration Certificate of the vehicle.
   
2. Fitness Certificate of the vehicle.
   
3. Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter.
   
4. Insurance Certificate.
   
5. Payment of green tax wherever applicable.
   
6. Affidavit Sworn by the applicant before an Executive (or) a First Class Judicial Magistrate (or) Notary Public
   
7. Passport size photos-2
   
8. No object certificate from the financier if the vehicle concerned is covered by HPA / Lease / Hypothecation.
   
9. Pollution under control certificate
   
10. Proof of Address (any one of the following to be produced) :
    • Ration Card
      
    • Aadhaar Card
      
    • Electoral Roll
      
    • LIC Policy
      
    • Passport
      
    • Pay slip issued - Govt. Office (or) a Local Body

Eligibility

You should be the owner of the vehicle.
The age of the vehicle will be considered

Fees

• RTO authorities may provide more information on fees

Validity

• Permit is usually valid for 4 months and can be extended maximum of one year
  
• The renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO
  
• The age of the vehicle is also considered to restrict the validity of the permit
  

NOTE: Validity differs with the type of vehicle and also for the load the vehicle can manage

Need for the Document

• Motor Cab (temporary) Permit is needed for an tourist vehicle operator to carry passengers on a hire / rental basis from one place to another for a specified period of time
  
• Temporary permits are obtained to cater the demand of a period.
  
• Motor cab means any motor vehicle constructed or adapted to carry not more than six passengers, excluding the driver for hire.
  
• Motor cab are actually taxi services that carry people from pickup point to drop point
