Kenya - Renewal of Investment Permit

Based on sufficient reason, an investment permit should be renewed annually until a project becomes operational. An application for renewal of an investment permit should be submitted at least a month before the end of one year for which the permit remains valid. The investor is also required to submit a bi-annual progress report.
- In Person
- Complete a investment permit renewal Application form.
- Attach all the relevant documents.
- Attach the expired previous investment permit
- Submit to customer service center at Ethiopian Investment Agency head office.
- Online Renewal
You must set up an account to be able to use the "Online Services"link". This account can be used to conduct an online service transaction, obtain information specific to your Renewal of investment Permit or check the status of your investment permit.
below are the requirements to renewal your investment permit online
- Effective 2004 through an Act of Parliament (Investment Promotion Act of 2004), The new regulation come into force on that date of publication where by Applicants for new investment permits will be Eligible for investment incentives and investment Areas reserved for Domestic investors council.
- Applicant holds only a regular investment permit that is current or has not been expired for more than 1 year.
- If applicant's investment permit is suspended, cancelled or revoked then only a limited permit can be renewed online.
- Applicant must be holding a duty free incentive permit.
- Applicants must submit a list of capital goods in Advance to be allowed to renew the investment permit online.
- Applicant must be a Kenyan resident or
- Applicant must be a Kenyan Citizen.
- A credit or debit card (Visa, Master card, American Express or Discover Card) is needed to process an online payment.
Note: Name changes cannot be processed online; legal documentation of the name change must be presented at a Customer Service Center

The Kenya Investment Authority is a government agency mandated to promote and facilitate investment in Kenya by both domestic and international investors.
An investment permit issued in Kenya can be renewed up to 90 days prior to the expiration date or if the Permit is not expired for more than 1 years.
