Apply in PersonEdit

  1. To renew your Flight Operations/ Flight Operations Officer License, one has to fully complete and submit the prescribed renewal application form.
  2. This form can be obtained by visiting the Personnel Licensing (PEL) Offices of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority’s - KCAA Offices
  3. After filling the renewal application documents you are required to submit them to the Authority’s Personnel Licensing (PEL) offices or you can forwarded them to the:-
    Director General,
    Kenya Civil Aviation Authority,
    P. O. Box 30163-00100,
    Nairobi, Kenya,
  4. You are required to submit the renewal application form with all the required documents for you to get approval to make payments for the prescribed application fees. These documents include:-
    (i). A Competency Certificate from an Air Operator certificated by the Authority certifying attendance at an approved course and successful completion of all the modules;
    (ii). Certification from an Air Operator certificated by the Authority that the applicant has operated under the supervision of a Flight Operations Officer for at least ninety working days within the six months immediately preceding the date of application;
    (iii). Two (2) current passport size photographs (full face);
    (iv). Records substantiating the experience shown on the application Form.
    (v). Proof of identification documents (Identity card or passport)
  5. The receiving officers will check for discrepancies or ineligibility in the renewal application documents. If a discrepancy that cannot be immediately corrected exists in any of the documents, the application and all the submitted documents will be returned to the applicant and should not be re-submitted until the discrepancy has been rectified corrected.
  6. If the receiving officers is satisfied that all the requirements have been met for the issue of a licence and the prescribed renewal application form has been completed and presented in the Personnel Licensing (PEL) Office, the applicant will be advised to pay the prescribed renewal application fees, after which the licence will be issued.
  7. You are also to proceed to pay the prescribed renewal application fees and submit the payment receipt to together with the application documents.
    • An application fee of KSh.2,500 is charged for the process.
  8. A processing time of 7 days is needed to complete the renewal process of the Flight Operations/ Flight Operations Officer License application, after which you will be contacted through a phone call to collect your renewed license at the KCAA’s Personnel Licensing offices.
  9. You will be required to carry your identification documents when collecting your renewed license.

EligibilityEdit


  1. The applicant should be in possession of a valid/ expired Flight Dispatcher / Flight Operations Officer license.
  2. The applicant should process a certified record by an Air Operator certificated by the Authority to substantiate the required experience of the applicant.
  3. The Flight Dispatch License on which the new renewal dates will be typed.
  4. A flight operations officer licence may be renewed if the holder has performed his duties in the six months preceding the date of application for renewal exercising the privileges of the licence.

Need for the DocumentEdit


  • A flight dispatcher (also known as an airline dispatcher, flight follower or flight operations officer) assists in planning flight paths, taking into account aircraft performance and loading, en-route winds, thunderstorm and turbulence forecasts, airspace restrictions, and airport conditions.
  • Dispatchers also provide a flight following service and advise pilots if conditions change.
  • They usually work in the operations centre of the airline.
  • They examine mechanics' reports to make certain required maintenance has been completed.

  • Present a photo Identification Card or a Passport as a form of identification, details of which should be the same as the personal information provided on the prescribed application form; and if the applicant’s identity cannot be verified, the application will be rejected, and the applicant will have to return with the proper identification.
